G1/4 Filters
An inline filter catches the debris that ends up in every new loop: casting swarf from a rad, plasticizer, a shaving off a cut tube. That material has one place it can do real damage, which is the pump impeller and the microfin channels in a CPU block. A filter costs less than either.
Alphacool Eiszapfen filters use G1/4 inner thread, in deep black, in plexi and in an acryl/acetal inline version. The ES inline particle filter comes as a standard 2x G1/4" IG part and as a BIG version for higher flow loops.
Aquacomputer takes a different approach with a stainless steel mesh filter that includes ball valves and a mounting plate, plus mounting frames sized for an 80mm or 120mm fan opening, and replacement mesh when it needs cleaning.
Barrow makes brass and quartz glass inline filters in black and in silver, where you want to see what the filter has caught.
Fit it on the inlet side of the pump, and put it where you can actually reach it. A filter you have to drain the loop to inspect is a filter you will never inspect.
