Alphacool's ES BIG inline filter for a water cooling loop is equipped with 2x G1/2 connections (In/Out), and two adapters in the box convert them to 2x G1/4. It must stand upright on its acrylic cylinder with the IN/OUT connections on top. Horizontal positioning is not possible!

Enterprise Solutions series
This is the ES Big Inline 2x G1/4 IT particle filter from Alphacool's Enterprise Solutions series. It can be integrated into a cooling loop and enables filtering of harmful particles that can find their way into the system. Thanks to the filter, Alphacool says, damage to the pump and other components due to contamination is virtually eliminated.
Use
As long as there is available space, the filter is able to sit at any position in the server housing, provided it can sit vertically. It may only be used standing on the cylinder, never lying down.
Connection options
Out of the box the two ports are G1/2. Additional adapters are included in the scope of delivery. These allow the filter to be easily converted to G1/4 by means of a hexagonal wrench (spanner).
Function
The screen filter has a large surface area. Because of it, the flow velocity of the coolant inside the filter decreases considerably, and suspended particles can slowly settle to the bottom. However, Alphacool says this lowering of the velocity within the filter has no detrimental effect on the general flow of the loop.
Maintenance
The crystal-clear cylinder is used to collect suspended matter and provides a visual check on the state of contamination. Its large volume, and the resulting absorption capacity for dirt particles, considerably extends the maintenance intervals according to Alphacool.
What the loop needs
The filter has two ports, so it takes two fittings in G1/4 with the adapters installed. When installing it, a ball valve from our G1/4 valves can be placed in front of the IN connection and another behind the OUT connection. This makes it much easier to remove the filter for cleaning.

Notes
- Use only clear, transparent water cooling fluids. Alphacool warns that the particles and additives in pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses, which can void the manufacturer's warranty.
