Quick Overview

The cuplex kryos NEXT from Aquacomputer represents a new milestone in the development of CPU water coolers. The areas of cooling performance, assembly and functionality have been perfected here.  Now with RGB!!!

Details

The Aquacomputer Cuplex Kryos NEXT RGBpx Black 1200/1156/1155/1151/1150, Acetal / .925 Silver (21838) is a CPU water block for Intel socket 1200, 1156, 1155, 1151 and 1150. Its housing is made of white acetal with a black anodized aluminum cover, on a .925 silver base.

11 individually addressable RGBpx LEDs

Cooler base and flow

Aquacomputer says the cuplex kryos NEXT represents a new milestone in the development of CPU water coolers, and that the areas of cooling performance, assembly and functionality have been perfected here. Through an integrated flat nozzle in the cooler housing, coolant flows into the middle of the extremely fine microstructure of the silver base. Aquacomputer says this thus sets new standards for cooling performance.

Mounting system

The mounting plates are solid stainless steel sheet, 2.5 mm thick, with nickel-plated spring cups pressed in. Attaching the cooler by knurled screws and springs leaves the mainboard visually very tidy, due to the holding system's low height. The bracket has a defined stop, which gives optimal contact pressure and force distribution.

As on every version for socket 115x or AM3, the block is equipped with a backplate with a silicone cover, which additionally stabilizes the mainboard. It goes under the socket with a black insulation mat, and four retention bolts screw through the board into it.

The cooler comes with excellent thermal paste: 0.5 grams of Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut, packed in a syringe and easily applied with the enclosed plastic spatula.

RGBpx illumination

Under the black aluminum cover, 11 RGBpx LEDs are integrated into the block. The included cable links them to an RGBpx output of an Aqua Computer device; more RGBpx parts can be daisy-chained.

Compatibility

Aquacomputer lists these RGBpx outputs:

For a motherboard header for addressable LEDs, use the RGBpx adapter (53285), sold separately.

What the loop needs

The loop also needs a pump, radiator and two fittings. Coolant goes in through the fitting close to the center and returns from the lateral connector next to the "NEXT" engraving; reversed flow significantly lowers cooling performance. For corrosion inhibition Aquacomputer requires Double Protect Ultra as coolant.

Notes

  • Leak-check block and fittings before other PC parts get mains power.

In the box

  • 1x mounted cooler
  • 1x mounting kit (screws, springs, etc.)
  • 1x Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut thermal paste, approx. 0.5 grams in syringe
  • 1x plastic spatula
  • 1x RGBpx connection cable 50 cm
  • 1x assembly instructions

The manual covers mounting and flow direction.
