For boards with no matching cooler

This is a universal water cooler for the voltage regulators of a mainboard. With it, cooling those regulators becomes possible on mainboards where no specifically adjusted cooler is available, and other applications are imaginable as well.

As delivered, the cooler's bottom plate has the following size: 100 x 15 x 2 mm. It needs to be individually adapted by the user, cut to the correct size and equipped with mounting holes. Watercool says the SW-X series gives a greater thermal margin, even with extreme overclocking.

What you need to mount it

Screws and nuts for mounting are enclosed; thermal interface material is recommended, but you add your own as it is not included. The two G1/4 threads take two fittings, and with no defined inlet or outlet the direction of flow is not critical. Watercool also makes the HEATKILLER SW-X 80 DIY.

Notes

  • Take the mainboard out completely before you start: its voltage converters are extremely sensitive. Keep the original heat sinks undamaged for a possible warranty claim.
  • The copper conducts electricity well. Do a test fit first as an extra check, make sure nothing can short, and insulate nearby coils, capacitors or resistors, for example with a piece of plastic wrap.
  • Place every screw and nut before tightening, then tighten only slightly: a few turns are enough. Washers on the rear side insulate the screws electrically from the mainboard.
  • Keep tension and pressure from the hoses off the cooler, and run a leak test with the computer turned off.

In the box

  • 1x HEATKILLER® SW-X 60 DIY
  • 1x Mounting material

Watercool's assembly instructions cover the whole HEATKILLER SW-X series, from removing the stock heat sinks to the leak test.
