Base with micro structure and flat nozzle
Aquacomputer says the cuplex kryos NEXT represents a new milestone in the development of CPU water coolers, with every detail analyzed, optimized and tested. In its words, the areas of cooling performance, assembly and functionality have been perfected here.
The cooler base has an extremely fine microstructure, with a structural width below 200 µm. An integrated flat nozzle in the cooler housing injects the coolant centrally, so it flows into the middle of the structure and then out to both sides. Aquacomputer says this thus sets new standards for cooling performance.
Mounting system
The retention system is made of solid stainless steel sheet, 2.5 mm thick, and the nickel-plated spring cups are pressed in here. By attaching the cooler to the mainboard with knurled screws and springs, the holding system stays visually very tidy due to its low height. The bracket has a defined stop for optimal contact pressure and even force distribution. The knurled screws turn by hand, and a hexagon socket wrench makes installation easier.
No additional backplate is required: on socket AM5 and AM4, as on 2011, 2066 and TR4, the back plate is already part of the mainboard processor socket.
Thermal paste
The block comes with thermal paste that Aquacomputer calls excellent: Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut, 0.5 grams, packed in a syringe and easily applied with the enclosed plastic spatula. It has a high thermal conductivity, and its low viscosity lets it spread out thin and evenly between CPU and water block. The syringe is enough for approximately five applications.
RGBpx lighting
The 11 LEDs are integrated under the silver aluminum frame that forms the cover of the block. Their connector, on the side left above the "N" of the "NEXT" engraving, takes the included cable to an RGBpx output of an Aqua Computer device. More RGBpx components can be daisy-chained from the adjacent connector.
Compatibility
Aquacomputer names these products with an RGBpx output:
- D5 NEXT (41118)
- farbwerk 360 (53279)
- farbwerk nano (53280, 53281)
- OCTO (53286)
- QUADRO (53256)
For motherboard headers for addressable LEDs, the RGBpx adapter (53285) is sold separately.
What the loop needs
The two G1/4 threads take two fittings. Coolant goes in through the fitting close to the center, and the return line to the lateral connector next to the "NEXT" engraving; reversed flow significantly decreases cooling performance. Pump and radiator need sufficient performance, and Aquacomputer requires Double Protect Ultra as coolant for corrosion inhibition.
Notes
- Check the block and its fittings for leakages before other PC components go on mains power.
