The HEATKILLER® Tube Series
The Tube Series is Watercool's modular system of high end reservoirs built around a glass tube made from borosilicate glass. Modular means every part can be exchanged on its own later, so the standalone base of this reservoir can be swapped for a D5 or DDC bottom. Watercool describes the BASIC as a high-end expansion tank in its typical design, made from borosilicate glass, aluminum and acetal. It says the series has some outstanding features; they are listed here, one by one.
Large filling mouth and bayonet lid
Thanks to the large filling mouth and a bayonet catch lid, the reservoir can be opened without any tools and is easy to fill. The lid opens with a quarter turn counterclockwise. Watercool says it has never been easier to re-fill a cooling medium.
Borosilicate glass tube
Borosilicate is a glass with a very high chemical and thermic (thermal) resistance. It is scratch-resistant and has very low heat expansion. Watercool calls it the ideal material for reservoirs because of these features.
Three sizes and three versions
To account for the different space availability in current cases, the glass tubes come in sizes 100 mm, 150 mm and 200 mm, from mini-ITX to big tower. Besides a standalone version like this one, there are versions with direct connections for pumps. They support D5 and DDC pumps by Lowara (formerly known as Laing) and their derivatives. In those versions an acetal (POM) part replaces the bottom piece, and the pump is fed straight from the reservoir.
The same 100 mm reservoir with black anodized struts is the Tube 100, and with a pump bottom it is the Tube 100 D5. The longer BASIC is the Tube 150 BASIC.
Large volume
In designing the series, Watercool took great care not to waste any of the available volume. That makes the reservoirs very low maintenance, because they need fewer re-fills.
Anti-cyclone effect and streaming-optimized pump chambers
The popular D5 and DDC pumps easily form a vortex in the suction area and pull air into the loop. An anti-cyclone inlay of stainless steel, exclusively developed for the series and located at the bottom of the reservoir, prevents vortices of this kind. It reduces noise levels and makes air bleeding easier.
The pump adapter of the D5 and DDC versions comes with a streaming-optimized pump chamber. It causes fewer vortices during use, which has a positive effect on both the flow rate and air bleeding.
Made in Germany
Watercool says the reservoirs are completely produced in Germany, on its own CNC machines in Waren, with each product finished under the dual control principle.
Extensive optional accessories
The Tube Series reservoirs have various optional features. Variable mounting systems, for example, make optimal integration into a water cooled system possible, and Watercool's different systems offer one to fit your build.
- Horizontal mount (pedestal): two pedestals of different height, the short stand and the long stand, hold the reservoir on the case floor or free-standing. A decoupling kit for the stand is available.
- Vertical mount: the multifunctional bracket of the Basic Mounting Kit offers options for vertical montage on a case wall. Of the several adapters, some attach the reservoir to 120 x 120 mm or 140 x 140 mm cooler slots, such as the 120 mm fan adapter pair. Others allow a montage on a radiator from the MO-RA3 series.
- Illumination: the reservoir can be set in scene with splash-safe LED strips in various colors, hidden in the struts of the reservoir cage. Look in reservoir lighting.
- Colored struts: the default struts of the BASIC are natural aluminum, which Watercool says can be anodized by third parties in any given color. To customize the reservoir you can also exchange them for struts with a choice of anodized colors, such as red or blue.
What the loop needs
The reservoir has two G1/4 connection threads, so it takes two fittings, and a separate pump.

Notes
- Watercool's most important information: check all seals before the first start-up; a reservoir with squeezed or damaged O-rings must not be used.
- Drain the reservoir and take it out of the loop before any alteration.
- The glass tubes are sealed with O-rings of 4 mm or 5 mm strength to compensate length tolerance; use the same strength you found in your reservoir. Watercool's replacement kit, the O-rings for the glass tube, contains both strengths.
In the box
- 1x HEATKILLER® Tube 100 BASIC
- 1x manual
Watercool's assembly instructions (the installation manual for the whole Tube Series) show how to open the lid, take the reservoir apart, fit an LED strip, mount a pump and use each mounting system.
