The Aquacomputer Retrofit kit socket 1200/1156/1155/1151/1150 for cuplex kryos NEXT (21690) is a CPU block mounting kit for Intel socket 1200, 1156, 1155, 1151 and 1150 motherboards. This set moves an existing cuplex kryos NEXT, cuplex kryos NEXT VARIO or cuplex kryos NEXT VISION cooler onto those sockets. Please note: it is not compatible with the acrylic glass version of the block.

What the conversion involves

Converting the cooler for use on these sockets requires exchanging its stainless steel brackets, the retention plates that sit in the water block housing. The kit contains all the parts necessary for that, and it also brings the assembly materials and a backplate for the motherboard.

The swap is done in three steps. First, take out the four screws that hold the base part and lift the base part off. Then loosen the set screws below it in the outlying threads and pull the old retention plates out of the housing. Slide the new plates into the recesses of the housing and secure them again with the set screws in the outlying threads.

If a gasket came off the housing during disassembly, put it back into its groove, exactly aligned with it. Finally, place the base part on the housing and fix it with the countersunk head screws taken out in the first step.

What you need to convert it

The kit only holds the mounting parts, so it needs a cuplex kryos NEXT you already own, in any version except the acrylic glass one. For mounting the converted block on the motherboard, follow the installation steps of the water block itself. Complete Intel blocks are in our Intel CPU blocks section.

Notes

• Tighten the set screws only slightly, by hand. Excessive force may warp and damage the water block housing, especially on the acetal version.
• When reinstalling the base part, tighten its screws by hand too, without excessive force.
