What it does

The waterblock's mounting mechanism presses the block onto the CPU. Installed behind the motherboard, the plate takes that pressure and ensures an even distribution of it, which relieves the board itself. A rubber cover sits between backplate and mainboard: it gives electrical insulation and helps to protect components on the underside of the board.
