Borosilicate glass tube
Every expansion tank of the aqualis series is equipped with a glass tube made from borosilicate. The tubes commonly used in other tube reservoirs are made of Plexiglas. In contrast, Aquacomputer says borosilicate glass has a very high hardness and scratch resistance, excellent chemical and thermal resistance and very low thermal expansion. The smaller 100 ml and 150 ml variants of the series use a tube with an outer diameter of 50 mm and a wall thickness of 5 mm.
Bases and covers in the aqualis range are made of Delrin, and lid and base are connected by a steel rod.
Built for the pump adapter
Aquacomputer pitches the BASE series as suitable for attachment on any type of Aquacomputer pump adapter, which gives maximum modularity. This allows you to keep the reservoir through numerous builds and move it to the next pump adapter.
What the loop needs
The reservoir needs an Aquacomputer pump adapter to sit on. The Aqualis D5 Pump Top (41094) is one: a pump adapter for D5 pumps, and Aquacomputer lists this 880 ml fountain effect reservoir with nano coating (34074) among the reservoirs it takes. Other reservoirs of the range are in our Aqualis BASE reservoir section.
Notes
- An acrylic plate, pre-installed in the reservoir upon delivery, reduces air ingestion when the fountain effect is used.
- The top unscrews counter-clockwise to free the glass tube; keep track of the gaskets while it is apart.
- On reassembly, seat the gaskets in their grooves and screw the top back on by hand with moderate force, no tools.
