The Aquacomputer Aqualis D5 Pump Top is a pump adapter (pump top) for D5 pumps, manufactured from durable Delrin, for use either stand-alone or under an aqualis base series reservoir. The pump is held by an anodized aluminum clamp ring, and this version has no fill level sensor.

Stand-alone use
On its own, the adapter takes a fitting in G1/4 inlet threads on top and on the side. Connect the return line to one of the central connectors, engraved "in", and the other line to a lateral connector, engraved "out". Whatever the layout, the pressure side is always connected to a side G1/4 port. Unused threads are sealed with the two G1/4 sealing screws supplied with the pump adapter.
In combination with an aqualis base reservoir
With a compatible aqualis base series reservoir, Aquacomputer says pump adapter and reservoir form virtually one unit. The sockets at the base of the reservoir slide into form-fitting receptacles of the pump adapter. The gaskets fitted on the sockets establish a watertight seal.
Before fitting the reservoir, seal the lateral G1/4 thread on the reservoir-facing side with a sealing screw; the central thread there stays open. Four countersunk M4 x 12 mm screws supplied with the reservoir fasten it to the adapter. When used with a reservoir, only the threads on the side are accessible, so they must be used to connect the water loop. The return line goes to the central connector engraved "in", or to the central connector of the reservoir base when using the fountain effect, and the other line to the lateral "out".
Fitting the pump
The adapter takes a D5 pump motor. A complete D5 pump is disassembled first, since only the housing with the electronic components and the impeller are needed. A clamp ring and an O-ring gasket are provided for mounting it. The gasket goes into the pump receptacle, then the motor, then the clamp ring over the rear of the motor without jamming any cables, secured with countersunk M4 x 12 mm screws.
Mounting in the case
The stainless steel bracket is included in delivery. Suitable screws hold it: four M4 x 20 mm screws, each with a plastic spacer, fasten it to the adapter. Additionally, four M3 x 8 mm screws with nuts mount the bracket to the PC. In place of the screws and spacers, an optional decoupling set can also be used, such as the Ultra Soft Pump Decoupling Kit (41092), which is not included.

The version with fill level sensor (41095)
This adapter (41094) does not feature a fill level sensor. For aqualis series reservoirs, Aquacomputer also offers another version with an integrated fill level sensor, art. no. 41095. Its sensor is an mps pressure Δ40 of the mps series. That version needs a pressure equalization membrane installed into the top port of the reservoir. Without an aqualis series reservoir, its fill level sensor is not operational.
Notes
- Screw in fittings and sealing screws with light force only, so the threads in the plastic base part are not damaged.
