Details
The Aqua Computer RGBpx Splitty12 is an active lighting splitter with an external power supply: up to 12 lighting components connect to a single RGBpx or ARGB output. It has twelve outputs (four RGBpx, four mainboard-type ARGB and four Corsair fan headers) and takes its power from one 15-pin SATA connector.
Properties
- Input
- 1x RGBpx or 1x 3-pin ARGB (+5V/DATA/GND)
- Outputs
- 4x RGBpx, 4x 3-pin ARGB, 4x 4-pin Corsair
- Supply
- 1x 15-pin SATA, 5 V, max. 4.5 A
- LEDs
- up to 90 per header, about 200 in total
- Color
- Black
How the splitter works
The splitter serves RGBpx lighting control and ARGB components alike. All twelve outputs are connected in parallel, which means that every connected component is controlled in the same way and shows the same effect. A high number of connected LEDs would overload the RGBpx or ARGB output feeding them. In order not to do that, all outputs are supplied with power from a SATA power supply connector on the board instead. The digital RGB control signal is amplified on the circuit board, for reliable control of the connected components.
Input signal
The input signal can be fed in either via an RGBpx connector or a mainboard-type connector, and both headers are marked "in". Connect one of them to an RGBpx output of an Aqua Computer device or an ARGB output of a mainboard. A suitable RGBpx connection cable is included in delivery, and so is an adapter for connecting to many mainboards and to controllers from other suppliers.
Outputs
A total of twelve outputs are available, and all of them can be used simultaneously:
- four RGBpx connectors
- four mainboard-typical ARGB connectors
- four connectors for the ARGB lighting on fans from the manufacturer Corsair (QL, LL, HD, ML series)
For the connected LEDs, a maximum of 4.5 amps are available. That corresponds to the maximum permissible current at 5 volts through a SATA power supply connector. The power consumption of ARGB products varies depending on the LED types and the colors displayed. As a guide, this splitter should take no more than 90 LEDs on one header and no more than 200 LEDs in total. For more LEDs, use additional active splitters.
What a run needs
A free SATA power plug from the power supply runs the board. The signal comes from an RGBpx output, for example on the OCTO fan controller, or from a mainboard ARGB header. Strips and rings to connect are in our addressable RGB LED strips section. The included cable is also sold on its own as the RGBpx connection cable, 50 cm (53261), and the adapter as the RGBpx adapter (53285).

Notes
- Only one of the two input headers may be connected, never both at the same time.
- Do not exceed the maximum current rating of 4.5 A. If it is significantly exceeded, the splitter cuts power to all outputs: turn the computer off completely, check every connected component for short circuits and reduce the number of LEDs before switching on again.
- The self-adhesive Velcro (hook-and-loop strip) mounts the board easily; alternatively, two mounting holes can be used.
