What is in the compound
The silicone-based thermal compound also contains silver particles. Alphacool describes them as ensuring good thermal transfer while not being electrically conductive.
Who the 30g size is for
Silver Grease was Alphacool's entry into the thermal compound market, and it was new at the time. Its reasoning: everyone needs thermal compound when assembling or working on a system. Of course only the best should be used for the finished system, Alphacool says, but the cost of the compound also needs to be considered. When using expensive thermal compounds especially, things can get rather expensive just from testing a few different set-ups.
This is where Alphacool calls its grease the ideal alternative. For some it is a lifetime supply. For other users it is, in Alphacool's words, a great way to gain more freedom in experimenting with the system and different cooling solutions, as expensive thermal compound is no longer an issue.
Sizes
Alphacool makes the compound available in a 30g syringe or a 100g tub with a handy spatula, and this one is the syringe. Alphacool says this packaging size ensures that there's always plenty of thermal compound available. More pastes are in our thermal compound section.
