Full copper

The new Alphacool NexXxos radiators carry a name that, in Alphacool's words, stands for experience and quality and has come to bring a fresh breeze to the radiator market. Its starting point: every user of a water cooling system needs a radiator, and everyone has different requirements towards the heat exchanger. Of course, it adds, the customer always demands the best in its class. Alphacool says these radiators have come to compete with and to beat the best in their class, and to be the best radiator in all sizes. It promises no more endless choices without a clear class leader and calls the NexXxos the one tool for all your needs.

Alphacool says it has been the company to introduce new developments and improvements in the radiator and water cooling sector generally, many times over the last years. Following this tradition, it calls these the first radiators to truly deserve the "Full copper" attribute. All main parts are made from copper: not only the fins and channels, but also the chambers. By Alphacool's account this brings an improvement in performance where other radiators are left without a chance. It adds that the material already gives an advantage over the competition and that the inner structure is up to par with it. Separated chambers give the coolant a clear direction, allowing the high flow rates which Alphacool says improve the performance of the whole cooling loop. Flat chambers on the heat exchanger mean a reduced overall length, and thanks to that they increase mounting flexibility.

Alphacool describes itself as a world-renowned manufacturer and currently the only one in the world that uses pure copper for all water-carrying parts. The pre-chambers, water channels and fins are all made of pure copper. As a result, Alphacool says, its radiators offer the highest thermal conductivity, which puts the performance limit significantly higher than with aluminum radiators. In short, by its account, the cooling capacity is simply higher if you want to dissipate a lot of heat. It calls copper the best choice in water cooling materials for years, and the result a unique all-copper radiator with outstanding performance.

Mounting

Versatile and easy mounting is one of the main points on which the research and development department at Alphacool focused. Alphacool's series description says the chamber offers three possibilities for fitting installation on both inlet and outlet (not on the NexXos ST30). Less angled fittings are needed that way, improving flow rates and offering more mounting possibilities. Hence a radiator can even be installed in tight enclosures where internal installation is otherwise not a possibility. Alphacool lists the G1/4 screw plug, which allows easy de-aeration of the radiator and hassle-free vertical installation of the heat exchanger, on all UT60 and NexXxos Monsta. There the threaded opening can even be used for filling, e.g. in combination with a Fillport.

Alphacool calls the connection options for the NexXxoS radiators extensive. While the narrow ST30 radiator has 2 inlets and outlets each, all thicker radiators from the XT45 offer 3 inlets and outlets each in G1/4 format. In addition, its text describes a G1/4 connection for filling or venting at the rear pre-chamber, which gives you the option to mount the radiator in any desired position. An exception are the X-Flow radiators. In the ST30 version these have 2 inlets or outlets on both pre-chambers, and the water flows from one side of the radiator to the other, not in a U-shape as usual. The X-Flow models from the size XT45 have 3 inlets or outlets on each of the pre-chambers. Alphacool says this offers further possibilities to adjust the water circuit in your system according to your wishes.

What the loop needs

Alphacool's technical data lists 6x G1/4 threads IN/OUT with a maximum thread length of 5 mm. Two are in use in a loop, one in and one out, so the radiator takes two fittings. It holds two 80 mm fans on one side, or four with both sides fitted. The fans are mounted with the included 30 or 35 mm M3 screws, and a metal plate below the holes prevents further penetration, so they cannot be screwed into the cooling fins. Alphacool's page also says matching screws are included to mount the radiator directly to the case.

Alphacool calls versatility the essence of the new NexXxos series. The radiators are available in different versions to be used with 120mm, 140mm or 180mm fans and in different thicknesses. Alphacool says the choice of 30mm, 45mm and 60mm offers "the perfect radiator for every purpose". Even mounting and installation of fans and radiator grills is described as easy and versatile with these radiators. The M3 threads are standard in the radiator sector, and Alphacool notes that M3 screws are available in all lengths at an affordable price. Even the dreaded insertion of a screw too far into the radiator does not result in expensive damage, Alphacool says. Unlike other radiators, the NexXxos series is equipped with an internal protective ledge which stops the screw before it damages the fins.

Alphacool says it covers almost all sizes with the NexXxoS radiator series and offers the most extensive portfolio of all manufacturers in this area. It runs starting from 40 mm dual radiators up to the triple radiator for 180 mm fans. The thicknesses are ST30, XT45, UT60 and Monsta. The number always stands for the thickness of the radiator in millimeters, and the Monsta radiators are about 86 mm thick. In addition, there are special sizes and HPC industrial radiators, special radiators that are designed for high pressure.

Fins and fans

Alphacool calls fin spacing always an important factor in radiator design. By its account the new series has a fin design which allows it to perform extremely well even with slow-spinning and medium-speed fans. Alphacool finds this not only pleasant thanks to the fact that it avoids unnecessary noise. It also means, Alphacool adds, that the choice of fans that can be used with these radiators is not restricted. Alphacool sums the radiators up as the result of experience and powerful performance meeting future-oriented design and well-thought through solutions.

Alphacool says all its radiators are designed for silent operation. So you don't need fans with particularly high static pressure to achieve the desired performance, but can rely on normal fans with low speed. It calls the performance loss compared to special fans for radiators minor, one that can usually be ignored. Those who want to achieve the maximum cooling performance and rely on adapted fans for radiators will not be disappointed, Alphacool adds, because the maximum performance does not suffer from this. Thanks to the copper and what it calls a high-quality manufacturing process, it promises a huge performance increase for your water-cooled components even with high-performance fans.
