Details

The Alphacool NexXxoS UT60 Full Copper X-Flow 80mm Triple Radiator is a radiator for three 80 mm fans in a row, 60 mm thick, with the water inlets and outlets on opposite sides. Alphacool designed it for server racks and workstations, and its end chambers, water channels and cooling fins are pure copper.

For workstations and servers

Alphacool's motto for these server radiators: it's the best system because it's your system, so strive for perfection. The new NexXxoS UT60 X-Flow Server Radiators, it says, help you to get one step closer and increase the performance of your system. Alphacool specially designed the 80 mm NexXxoS radiators for server racks and workstations, with a low height of only 80 mm and special M3 mounting holes on the top and bottom. Alternatively, the radiators can also be mounted in the classic way, using the mounting locations of the fans, where M3 screws are also required.

X-Flow instead of U-Flow

In classic PC radiators the water flow is U-shaped, which means that the water inlet and outlet are on the same side of the radiator. That has certain advantages in the normal PC. However, Alphacool notes, it is difficult to set up a reasonable cooling loop like this in an extremely flat server. For the best possible cooling of your system, Alphacool relies on the X-Flow for the new server radiators, under the heading "Find The Easy Route". The flow runs from one side of the radiator to the other, directly uses all fins and, Alphacool says, immediately achieves the best possible cooling with optimized water circulation. Due to the X-Flow technology, the input and output are located on the opposite sides, which makes it very easy to create a loop in the server rack. Alphacool's example: go out from one side directly into a CPU, then into one or more graphics cards and the pump, then back to the radiator on the other side.

Countersunk screw plugs

Each NexXxoS 80 mm X-Flow radiator has 3 ports on each end of the radiator, so Alphacool says almost any conceivable mounting position can be achieved. The connections sit on each side in the opposite position, and then one at the head ends of the radiators. For the first time Alphacool has countersunk the screw plugs, which it titles "Anything But Ordinary". It has developed special patented stop plugs that are flush with the radiator to avoid them fouling the case. Previous solutions were not countersunk, so they always exceeded the length or width of the radiator. Alphacool says this unique design allows you to stay flexible with the positioning of the radiator and to mount it the way you need it. Thanks to the multiple inlets and outlets, it adds, you have more options to create something unique and, more importantly, efficient.

Solid copper

Alphacool always uses copper in its NexXxoS radiators, and the radiator of the new series is also made of solid copper. It calls itself the only manufacturer that uses pure copper for all water-bearing components. Starting with the end chambers, then the water channels and the cooling fins, everything is made of it. Only the connecting threads are made of brass: there pure copper would be too soft and would give way over time. Alphacool's heading here is "The Best Performance At The Highest Level", with solid copper ensuring the radiators offer you the highest thermal conductivity. Its advice: rely on the No. 1 in materials.

Cooling capacity

Alphacool names several approaches that it uses to increase the cooling capacity, which it calls outstanding. Using copper, it says, ensures the best properties to dissipate the heat. Aluminum, which is often used in low-cost products, is not as good as copper in terms of heat capacity and thermal conductivity. The copper fins are only thinly painted compared to some other manufacturers. By Alphacool's account the cooling performance isn't affected at all, unlike with a thick coating of paint, which would act as an insulator. The fin spacing is 10 FPI, which Alphacool gives as its choice for optimal performance. The fins are then close enough together to create a large surface, but also far enough apart not to obstruct the air flow. In addition, Alphacool designed all fins to provide controlled air turbulence. This means the air flowing through the fins is then more efficient, Alphacool says, and is directed exactly where it is needed.

Different sizes

The new UT60 X-Flow is available in different sizes and thicknesses, under Alphacool's heading "Different Sizes - Same Quality". Thanks to the special shape, it says, installation is child's play, even with the larger radiators. Alphacool's closing line: "Decide for yourself which size is perfect for your system and always choose the best quality". For a professional implementation of water cooling for servers or workstations in a data center, Alphacool also offers complete solutions with special reservoirs, pumps and coolers. Among them are highly optimized water coolers for workstation graphics cards and CPUs.

What the loop needs

The radiator has 6x G1/4 threads for IN and OUT, with a maximum thread length of 5 mm. A loop goes in on one side and comes out on the other, so the radiator takes two G1/4 fittings. It holds three 80 mm fans on one side, or six with both sides fitted, on M3 threads. The box has mounting material.
