The Alphacool Core Distro Plate 280 Left VPP/D5 is a 280 mm acrylic distro plate with a volume of 360ml that takes a D5 or VPP pump. No pump is in the box: the same plate with the VPP Apex pump is article 14573. The mirrored layout is the 280 Right.

Core design

Alphacool calls the plate an absolute must-have for all custom water cooling systems. With its core design it's a real eye-catcher in Alphacool's words, and a functional masterpiece too. It says the plate simplifies the design and planning of complex water loops and offers uncomplicated installation.

The distro plate is made of acrylic glass that Alphacool describes as high-quality, and it features chrome-plated G1/4 brass fittings. These are recessed and intentionally not screwed in, to reduce the risk of cracking and leaks while simultaneously increasing stability. The fittings are also split into two parts that counter each other when mounted in the acrylic, and they feature an O-ring that Alphacool says is there for maximum sealing.

Fitting arrangement and lighting

Alphacool says the fitting arrangement is designed to not only optimize tubing routing but also provide an attractive appearance. This is complemented by integrated aRGB lighting, which Alphacool says delivers impressive visual effects. The number of digital LEDs is 12, their voltage is 5V, and the power connection is 3-Pin JST + 3-Pin 5V. The lighting can be controlled either via a digital aRGB header on the motherboard, or optionally with the Alphacool Aurora Eiscontrol aRGB controller (item no.: 15360).

Push mounting

Included in the package is the Alphacool Core Push Mounting Kit, which Alphacool says significantly simplifies the installation of the plate. The metal pins are attached to the radiator or the PC case panel, the corresponding female sleeves to the plate. That allows you to simply push the sleeves onto the pins, and Alphacool says this system ensures a secure fit. The plate comes off again just as simply, allowing for easy disassembly during maintenance or upgrades. A detailed description can be found in the enclosed instructions. On a radiator, use screws with the appropriate thread for your radiator.

What the loop needs

The plate needs a D5 or VPP pump; ours are in the D5 pumps section. For pump installation an O-ring is inserted first, then the four M4x22 pump screws are tightened with 1.5Nm. Connections you do not use take the three G1/4 plugs in the box, and a plug tool is included for them. The ports are marked: OUT leads from the plate to the component, IN comes back from the component. For the graphics card, choose the port closest to your GPU configuration. The maximum operating temperature is 60 °C.

• Please note Alphacool's note on application: use the plate only in conjunction with clear, transparent water cooling fluids. The particles and additives in pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage water cooling products such as radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses. That can result in voiding the manufacturer's warranty as well.
