Ready to go on
All the mounting materials necessary for these two sockets are included in this set. For increased simplicity during installation, the hardware arrives already put together, so you can set the block straight onto the existing socket.
How it mounts
The cooler is screwed into the original backplate of the mainboard, so you do not have to take the board out or reach its back side. A small spring force has to be overcome to start the four screws: start all four before tightening any of them.
Then tighten them crosswise, screw 1 first, then 2, 3 and 4, one complete turn each, and repeat until all are fully tight. The mounting solution has a defined stop, so the screws cannot be overtightened; turn each to the stop for the right pressure.
What you need to mount it
You need a HEATKILLER IV block to convert and fresh thermal paste. More blocks for AMD are in our AMD CPU Blocks category, and other brackets are under Mounting Hardware.
Notes
- Remove the old CPU heat sink with all its parts and clean off the leftover thermal paste before you apply new paste.
- HEATKILLER IV blocks have a defined inlet and outlet: the intake is in the center of the cooler.
- Watercool recommends demineralized or deionized (distilled) water as coolant.
