How it is built

The features start with the construction, which combines an Ultra-High-Performance nickel-plated copper cold plate, a solid nickel-plated brass housing, a Schott BOROFLOAT® borosilicate glass viewing window, and an anodized aluminum exterior cover. Thermal Grizzly calls it a premium water block, engineered around high-performance custom liquid cooling systems. Inside, high-quality EPDM O-rings provide the seals at every internal connection. Each O-ring is durable, and the seals offer excellent resistance to coolant, heat, aging, and long-term use. A black anodized LGA1851 backplate, milled from aluminum, is included.

Ultra-High-Performance cold plate

At the heart of the DeltaMate is a hybrid microfin structure optimized around Intel's CPU tile layout. Directly above the CPU tiles sit 40 extremely fine cooling fins, which feature 0.2mm fin widths with 0.2mm channels. Such a dense run of ultra-fine microfins creates a large heat-transfer surface where cooling performance is most critical. The 30 larger 0.3mm fins above and below the tile area optimize coolant distribution through the block.

Ports and fittings

The brass housing is a robust foundation for the coolant connections and takes standard custom water cooling fittings. The two standard G1/4" ports, inlet and outlet, are positioned toward the upper-right portion of the block. Placing them there leaves the central area open, keeping an unobstructed view through the glass window. The inlet and outlet threads are 6mm-deep, each G1/4" thread providing a durable threaded connection. With two ports the block takes two compression fittings, such as the DeltaMate 16/10.

Glass window and aRGB lighting

For the viewing window the block uses genuine Schott BOROFLOAT® glass instead of conventional acrylic. This glass is highly scratch resistant and UV resistant. Its edges are hand-finished and interact with the integrated lighting to create a distinctive appearance. The addressable RGB LEDs that illuminate the water block connect to a standard aRGB header for motherboard-controlled illumination.

A magnetic cover is included and can be installed over the block to conceal the screws and mounting hardware. This provides two visual configuration options, allowing the finished system to be configured either way: an exposed mechanical appearance, or a cleaner, streamlined presentation.

Fit

The block is also compatible with the Thermal Grizzly Intel High Performance Heatspreader V1 for LGA1700. Thermal Grizzly describes that as making it suitable for performance-focused Intel systems where premium materials, optimized heat transfer, and high-end construction are priorities, and as designed for high-performance custom PC water cooling. Mount it by Thermal Grizzly's manual. Thermal Grizzly's other LGA1851 block we stock is the Mycro Pro RGB.

Important water cooling notes

  • Do not combine the block with aluminum water cooling components where aluminum comes into direct contact with the coolant.
  • Fill with an appropriate coolant containing biocides and corrosion inhibitors. Particle-containing coolants are not recommended, since they may restrict or clog the cooling loop.
  • Before filling, leak-test the completed loop for at least one hour using an air pressure tester, at a maximum of 0.5 bar. We stock a leak tester here.
  • After filling, check the system regularly for leaks during the first 24 hours.
  • The maximum specified operating pressure is 0.6 bar.
