Quick Overview

Conductonaut liquid metal is designed for high efficiency applications. Conductonaut is a top product for experienced users who are looking for a solution with best heat dissipation in the range above 8°C.

Details

Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut is a liquid metal thermal compound for CPUs, GPUs, notebooks and ICs, here as the 5g syringe. We also stock the 1g syringe and its further development, Conductonaut Extreme.

The alloy

The compound is based on a eutectic alloy, in Thermal Grizzly's words "our special mixture of metals like tin, gallium and indium", with an increased indium content. It was designed for applications that require very high efficiency, and Thermal Grizzly says it excels with a very high (ultra high, in its property list) thermal conductivity. It is recommended to experienced users who are looking for a top performance product with the best heat dissipation, where temperature ranges are above 8 °C.

Surfaces it works on

For the best long term performance results we recommend to use coolers with a nickel plated surface, since this will provide the best stability. A CPU heatspreader is nickel plated copper, and the liquid metal may also be used directly on silicon, as on a delidded CPU. It must not be used with aluminum heatsinks: contact with aluminum permanently damages the cooler.

Conductive, and it marks the surface

Note that this thermal grease conducts electricity; Thermal Grizzly's Shield coating protects against liquid metal and short circuits. The compound can also leave visual residues. If it diffuses into the heatspreader, the engraved information may become illegible, and there is a risk that the manufacturer's warranty will be invalidated.

Applying it

Clean the CPU and the cooler with a cleaning pad so both are dry and free of residue. Apply a pinhead-sized amount to each and spread it with the cotton swabs, then mount the cooler. Thermal Grizzly lists easy application with a synthetic needle: the metal needle doses finely, and the plastic one draws excess back into the syringe. If the syringe got colder than 8 °C in storage or transport, warm it to at least 25 °C first.

In the box

  • 1x syringe with 5g of liquid metal
  • 1x metal needle for application
  • 1x plastic needle for absorbing
  • 2x lint-free industrial cotton swabs
  • 2x cleaning pads
