The Aquacomputer Cuplex Kryos NEXT with VISION 1200/1156/1155/1151/1150, Copper/.925 Silver (21654) is a CPU water block for Intel socket 1200, 1156, 1155, 1151 and 1150. Its top is copper and its base is .925 sterling silver. A VISION module built into the block gives it an OLED display, a water temperature sensor, USB and aquabus.

The cuplex kryos NEXT range

In Aquacomputer's view, the cuplex kryos NEXT marks a new milestone in CPU water block development. It says every detail was analyzed, optimized and tested, aiming to achieve perfection in three areas: cooling performance, the installation procedure and product features. The result, in Aquacomputer's words, is not just a block with outstanding performance but a product series, with various models differing in color and functionality.

The VARIO models, by Aquacomputer's account, are the first CPU water blocks globally to incorporate a real-time adjustable base. It says never before has it been possible to adjust the geometry of a CPU block so it can perfectly fit the CPU while the PC is in operation. Models with the VISION module, this block among them, are equipped with modern electronics.

VISION: integrated electronics

Inside the VISION variants sit a microcontroller board and an OLED display with high resolution. The display, the water temperature sensor integrated in the block and the USB interface are just three of the features. The full list:

• a water temperature sensor built into the water block
• a connector for a flow sensor, which can alternatively serve as an alarm output
• a USB interface
• an aquabus interface for communication with an aquaero 5 or 6
• a customizable display output
• various hardware data from the aquasuite software, displayed on the block, for example the current CPU load

Of the cuplex kryos NEXT with VISION, only the acrylic glass variants are additionally equipped with an RGB LED, controlled depending on temperature or via USB. This block has a copper top, so it has no LED.

Space inside the block is limited, so a maximum of two cables can be threaded into it. The following combinations are possible:

• USB and aquabus
• USB and flow sensor or alarm output
• flow sensor or alarm output and aquabus

Base part with micro structure

The base part carries an extremely fine micro structure whose structural width is lower than 200 µm. Coolant enters centrally through a slot-shaped nozzle, is injected into the structure and then runs out to both sides. Across the range the base itself is manufactured from copper, nickel plated copper or .925 sterling silver, depending on model; on this block it is .925 sterling silver.

Retention system

The retention system consists of stainless steel plates 2.5 mm thick, each equipped with nickel plated spring cups. The block is held on the motherboard by springs and knurled screws, and the installed system has a very clean look. A mechanical stop is a feature of all retention system versions, for optimum clamping force and even force distribution. You can turn the knurled screws by hand, and a hexagon socket wrench can additionally be used for easy installation.

Water blocks for socket 1200/115x or AM3 come with a steel back plate with silicone insulation to stabilize the CPU region of the motherboard. Socket 2011 motherboards already include a back plate as part of the CPU socket, therefore no additional one is required there.

Thermal compound

Every cuplex kryos NEXT ships with thermal compound that Aquacomputer calls outstanding, for optimum performance. Included is a syringe with 0.5 grams of Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut, complete with a plastic spatula. The compound has a high thermal conductivity. Due to its low viscosity it spreads out thin and evenly between CPU and water block. The amount is sufficient for approximately five applications.

Color variants

Aquacomputer offers the top part of the water block in various materials and coatings:

• Acetal black: shiny black high-tech plastic
• Acrylic glass: transparent body, suitable for illumination
• Copper: reddish gloss
• Nickel plated brass: bright metallic gloss
• PVD plated brass: high quality multi layer coating with a dark metallic gloss

This block is the copper/.925 silver material combination: the top part is copper and the base is 925/000 sterling silver. With a nickel plated brass top and a nickel plated copper base, the same block is the Nickel/Nickel version (21633).

Installation

Take the old cooler off the CPU and, if necessary, clean thermal grease residues off the CPU surface with benzine. Place a small drop of the supplied grease, about 4 mm (0.15 inch) across, centrally on the CPU, or spread a thin layer with the plastic spatula.

Put the back plate and the black insulation mat below the processor socket. Slide a plastic washer onto each of the four retention bolts and screw them through the mounting holes of the motherboard into the back plate. Set the block on the CPU in the orientation the manual shows, slide a spring onto each bolt and secure it with a knurled head screw. Tighten the screws alternately, a fraction of a revolution each, until all four are fully fastened.

What the loop needs

The two connection threads are G1/4, so the block takes two fittings from our fittings section. Supply the coolant through the central fitting: reversed flow direction significantly decreases cooling performance. Aquacomputer requires Double Protect Ultra as coolant for corrosion inhibition.

What you need to connect it

No cables are in the box. USB goes through the internal USB connection cable for VISION (53215). An aquaero 5 or 6, for example the aquaero 6 LT, connects with the aquabus cable for VISION (53214). A flow sensor needs the flow sensor cable for VISION (53212), and the alarm output reaches the motherboard power button with the alarm output cable (53216).

aquasuite software

When you activate this product you get the current aquasuite software with an upgrade service for at least six (6) months. Once the upgrade service expires, the latest version available during that period can still be used and reinstalled without a time limit. The update service can optionally be extended or renewed at any time for a fee. Installing and activating aquasuite needs an internet connection.

• Run the water cooling system first with no other PC components connected to the mains supply, and check the block and the fittings for leakages.
• A component that has been in contact with coolant goes into operation only once it is completely dry again.
