The Alphacool VPP655 PWM Pump Core - BULK is a 12V water cooling pump from Alphacool's VPP/D5 range, shipped as the pump core itself and nothing else. It has no pump top, so it is for using with a third-party pump top. BULK means no o-ring and no original manufacture packaging.

Only the pump core
The special feature of this model is the fact that only the core is shipped. Alphacool puts it as a question: why pay more for all the things you won't need when the pump goes into a top you already have? Alphacool calls this its new power pump series, with exceptional performance at an unbeatable price. It describes the pump as ideal for water cooling a PC and other electronics.
Spherical motor
This is a DC pump equipped with an electronically commutated spherical motor, also called a ball motor. The only moving part in such a motor is a spherically shaped rotor. Here the rotor is held in place by a bearing ball made of ultra-hard and wear-resistant ceramic. Alphacool says the spherical bearing offers many advantages. For example, an increase of bearing play is impossible due to the design, allowing the pump to run quietly and smoothly over its whole lifespan. A separate magnetic shielding is not needed. According to Alphacool the ball motor design allows efficient operation in combination with excellent performance.
What the loop needs
The core needs a pump top and an O-ring between the two, neither of which is in this pack. Tops are in our D5 pump tops section. For power, the 12V pumps of this series can simply be connected directly to a Molex connector of the system PSU. The pump will then start with your PC, which Alphacool describes as maximum convenience and safety. The PWM and tachometer signal runs over a separate 4-Pin JST connector.

Notes
- Note on application: please use the pump only in conjunction with clear transparent water cooling fluids. Alphacool warns that the particles and additives in Pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage water cooling products such as radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses. This can result in voiding the manufacturer's warranty as well.
