The Alphacool VPP655 PWM Pump Core is a D5-type 12 V pump core with PWM control, shipped without a pump top. Power comes from a 4-Pin Molex connector, the PWM and tachometer signal runs through a 4-Pin JST connector. Alphacool lists it as the VPP655PWM - Single Edition.

The VPP655 pump
Alphacool calls the VPP655 its new power pump series, with exceptional performance at an unbeatable price. These 12V pumps can simply be connected directly to a 12V Molex connector of the system PSU. The pump will then start with your PC, which Alphacool counts as maximum convenience and safety. Alphacool says this pump is ideal for PC and other electronics water cooling.
It is a DC pump, equipped with an electronically commutated spherical motor. In a pump with such a ball motor the only moving part is a spherically shaped rotor, held in place by a bearing ball made of ultra-hard and wear-resistant ceramic. Alphacool says the spherical bearing of the rotor offers many advantages. For example, due to the design an increase of bearing play is impossible, allowing the pump to run quietly and smoothly over its whole lifespan. Separate magnetic shielding is not needed for the pump. According to Alphacool, the ball motor design allows efficient operation in combination with excellent performance.

Alphacool names as the special feature of this model the fact that only the pump core itself is shipped. Its reasoning: why pay more for all the things you won't need when using this pump with a third-party pump top?

Notes
- Alphacool's note on application: please use the pump only in conjunction with clear, transparent water cooling fluids. It warns that the particles and additives in Pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage water cooling products such as radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses. This can also result in voiding the manufacturer's warranty as well.
