The block was designed for one PCB layout, and graphics card manufacturers occasionally revise a card so that a cooler no longer fits later models. One slot in a dense rack
Alphacool says its ES 1-Slot GPU water cooler is specifically designed for professional use in performance-optimized server environments. Its compact design and strategically positioned connectors are meant for dense rack setups, particularly where space is at a premium. Alphacool claims it meets the highest standards in cooling performance, reliability, and ease of installation. It calls the cooler the ideal solution for enterprise applications where those three and efficient space utilization are key.
Carbon and chrome-plated copper
Both the top and bottom of the cooler are made from carbon, which Alphacool describes as lightweight yet durable. This significantly reduces the overall weight compared to conventional solutions, while the matte carbon finish adds what Alphacool calls a subtle and refined aesthetic, functional and elegant at the same time. The cooling block itself is made entirely of chrome-plated copper. Alphacool says this plating is significantly harder and more resilient than traditional nickel coatings. It describes the plating as offering long-term protection against corrosion, scratches, and mechanical stress, and calls that ideal for continuous 24/7 operation.
Ports at the rear
To save space, the inlet and outlet ports of the cooler are placed at the rear of the block. This connector layout simplifies tubing and integration into existing cooling loops, even within the tightest server chassis.
Flow and heat transfer
Alphacool says the optimized internal channel structure ensures highly efficient heat dissipation from GPU, VRAM, and power delivery components. A precise flow path within the cooler is there for consistent water distribution across all critical areas. The base is solid copper, and Alphacool's claim is that it guarantees maximum thermal absorption and transfer. It adds that the robust chrome plating prevents flaking or damage, even under sustained thermal loads.
What the loop needs
The block has two G1/4 threads, both at the rear. Each takes one of the compression fittings for your tube size, which are not in the box. Thermal pads, thermal grease, a putty tool, the PCIe bracket and three sets of screws come with the block.

Notes
- Alphacool asks that the block be used only with clear transparent water cooling fluids. It warns that the particles and additives in Pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses, and that this can void the manufacturer's warranty.
- Remove the original cooler on an antistatic mat, taking extreme care if it is held with thermal glue. Clean the card of thermal paste and pad residues with a solvent such as isopropanol alcohol before fitting the block.
- The manual has you use the original screws and mounting spring of the card when the PCB goes onto the block.
