The Alphacool Eiszapfen Quick Release Connector Kit G1/4 Inner Thread - Chrome is a quick disconnect coupling with a G1/4 internal thread on both sides. One kit holds the two halves of one coupling, a male and a female connector.

Where a quick coupling is used

Quick couplers go everywhere where expandability, flexibility and cleanness play an important role in a water cooling loop. Alphacool calls its quick couplings "Icicles" and counts them as the next building block in its "Ice" series. These compact couplings have the same thread on both sides and are compatible with all standard connections.

How it opens and closes

The couplings are disconnected by pulling down the outer ring. Both sides then close immediately and completely tight, so that no water can escape. Thanks to its special N.D.S.L. Technology (no drip, no splash, no leak), Alphacool says a leak, drip or splash out of the water on opening the lock is excluded. When assembling them again, both sides must click into each other audibly. They shut themselves tightly by a double O-ring, which is simply compressed when the halves are plugged together. Alphacool adds that this also keeps the O-ring from wearing out. Likewise, the mechanism was designed for durability, to ensure a secure connection even after years.

Flow rate

Many quick couplings usually also affect the flow rate. But Alphacool says it has found a way to resolve this issue, and that a high flow rate is maintained at these.

Finishes

Alphacools quick couplers are available in two finishes, deep black and fully chromed (chrome-plated). Alphacool says these add seamlessly on every system. Alphacool's scope of delivery is one coupling set, and its technical details are the properties above.

What a run needs

Each half has an inner thread, so a fitting with a G1/4 outer thread screws into each side. Those are in our fittings section, and more couplings are under quick disconnect fittings.

Notes

• Note: the quick couplings should not be used permanently in dry condition, since the O-rings may be too much strain and tightness is no longer guaranteed.
• Use them only with clear, transparent water cooling fluids. Alphacool warns that the particles and additives in pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses.
