What is new in the PRO
The new Eiszapfen PRO HardTube fittings are a further development of the well-known, previous Eiszapfen from Alphacool. When developing them, Alphacool concentrated on one particular problem: the deformation of PETG hard tubes at high temperatures. These tubes can deform at as little as 60 °C. Although such a temperature is rarely reached in a loop, it can still occur. The fitting prevents this problem from the outset and keeps the tubes in position.
How it holds the tube
Deformation is prevented by the new nylon inserts: one sits on the inside of each fitting and stabilizes the tube. Furthermore, the fitting still has an O-ring and a compression seal. However, the seal grips over a contact area much larger than with normal O-rings, which Alphacool says ensures a better hold. Through the use of the insert and the compression seal in the screw connection, the tube is reinforced from the inside and the outside. The HardTube does not slip even under higher loads, and Alphacool has tested the tensile strength of up to 8 kg. So, in Alphacool's words, there is no need to worry about this. Each fitting weighs 0.023 kg.
What a run needs
A tube run takes two fittings, one at each end, so the six in this pack are enough for three runs. The fitting is compatible with PETG, acrylic, brass and glass tubes, and tubes to match are in our 13mm hard tubing section. The thread screws into a G1/4 port.
Notes
- Use only clear, transparent water cooling fluids. Alphacool warns that the particles and additives in pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses, which can void the manufacturer's warranty.
