Thermal paste with a mesh
Eisschicht is the ice layer, and like other heat-conducting pads Alphacool's ice sheet can even out the unevenness of heat sinks and of the elements to be cooled. But it has one thing that sets it apart: the pad is made of thermal paste with an embedded mesh, a tissue sunken into the paste. Alphacool calls this a great feature. It says this ensures the performance of these pads is much more efficient than with normal thermal pads, regardless of the low W/mK value. In addition, a better distribution and filling between the two surfaces is achieved, which also means a better air displacement occurs. Due to their soft consistency, there is also no pressure from the pads on components or solder joints. Even Nvidia falls back on this type of pad in the Founders Edition, Alphacool notes.
Cutting and fitting
The sheet can be easily cut to the desired size and attached to heat sinks without slipping, so one sheet can compensate for irregularities on several parts. As a basic component or a spare part, Alphacool says, thermal pads belong in any well organized corner where people tinker with a computer: include a sheet in yours.
What the job needs
The same pad is in stock in 0.5 mm and 1.5 mm, and more pads of this thickness are in our Thermal Pads 1.0mm section.
