Where it goes
Any place where chips meet cooler bodies is a good place for the pad, whether that is on RAM or motherboard coolers or on graphics card and CPU coolers. Alphacool says the options for placement are just as varied as what the pad offers, which it gives as all the benefits and typical qualities of a thermal pad: self-adhesive, elastic, flexible, and much more. With thermal pads, any hardware components can now be put together neatly and easily.
The Light version
Eisschicht is German for "ice sheet". Alphacool describes the line as its ultimate solution, one that lets you cool your computer with a sheet of ice. It means not an ice sheet in the conventional sense, made of frozen water, but a sheet that brings every chip down to freezing, which is Alphacool's picture and no measured temperature. Alphacool adds that the properties of these new thermal pads speak for themselves. The Light is the one it calls the "small and weak" version at 7W/mK, but definitely strong enough.
Sizes and cutting
At its performance level of 7W/mK, the Light is available in 0.5 mm, 1 mm and 1.5 mm thicknesses, which Alphacool calls perfect for leveling height differences. Each thickness is also available in 100 x 100 mm and 120 x 20 mm sizes, the 120 x 20 mm one suitable for RAM coolers. To get the right size for any component, the pads can easily be cut with scissors. We also stock the 100 x 100 mm sheet in 0.5 mm, and the 120 x 20 mm strip in 0.5 mm, 1 mm and 1.5 mm.
