Alphacool Eisbaer Pro Aurora (Solo) - Digital RGB (13000)

The Alphacool Eisbaer Pro Aurora (Solo) - Digital RGB is the pump and cooler unit of the Eisbaer Pro Aurora AIO liquid cooler on its own, without radiator, tubes and fans. It mounts on AMD AM4, AM5, TR4, sTR5 and SP3 and on Intel LGA 1700, 1851, 2066 and 3647, among the sockets listed below. To build the loop you still need a radiator, hoses from our tubing and two G1/4 fittings.

Fit

Compatibility follows Alphacool's current list. The box holds one mounting set for AMD and one for Intel. Alphacool's page marks LGA 4189, LGA 4677 and LGA 4710 as optional, so those three need a bracket that is not in the box. For LGA 4677 that is the XPX Pro/Eisbaer Pro LGA 4677 Mounting Bracket (article no. 13764). Alphacool's manual, written for the whole Eisbaer Pro line, shows brackets for both LGA 3647 versions, Narrow & Square. It also names sTRX4 with TR4 and SP3, LGA 115x and 1200 with LGA 1700, and a bracket set for LGA 4189.

With the included AM4 mount, which the manual assigns to AM4 and AM5, cooling an AMD Ryzen processor is child's play, in Alphacool's words. Thermal compound is in the box. The manual has you clean the old paste off the CPU, apply a pea-sized blob and spread it with a plastic strip into an even, thin layer. Tighten the nuts and screws hand-tight only, without tools.

Large cooling surface

Alphacool says this unit offers a much higher cooling surface than the normal Eisbaer Aurora. It was specially developed for extremely large CPU DIEs and completely covers processors such as the AMD Threadripper, but also the AMD Ryzen CPUs. According to Alphacool it has also been designed for the Intel Socket 3647, to ensure the best possible cooling performance of the entire CPU.

On the respective processors the cooler base covers the entire surface. Its cooling fins take up an area of around 55 x 42 mm, which Alphacool says surpasses all known processor cores. This ensures that all hotspots of a CPU are flooded with water and, as Alphacool puts it, optimally cooled. There are a total of 58 cooling fins on the cooler floor, each 0.4 mm thick, at what Alphacool calls an optimal distance of 0.4 mm from each other. The cold plate bottom is only 3 mm thick, which means the heat can reach the water and dissipate as quickly as possible.

Pump

The unit uses the DC-LT 2 pump, very compact and small. Alphacool says it offers enough power to integrate other components, such as GPU water coolers or radiators, into the water cycle. That is why Alphacool calls the unit expandable, a real all-rounder that is fully compatible with DIY water cooling components. It also calls it the optimal solution for the most powerful processors on the market.

Lighting

The entire cooler is equipped with addressable, digital RGB LEDs, ten in all. Alphacool says this makes it a real eye-catcher in the case, or housing. Of course all Digital RGB LEDs can be controlled as desired, and depending on the controller almost all effects are possible.

How to connect everything

The box holds no fittings. The two G1/4 connections, IN and OUT, take one fitting each, and the third G1/4 thread is the fill port. Fittings that are too large mean the fill port can no longer be used. Alphacool recommends sizes up to and including 13/10 without restriction and 16/10 only in an angled version. Anything larger than 16/10 should not be used. The manual gives the maximum diameter of the connections as 18 mm and says the fillport can be used to refill the cooler if necessary.

The pump connects directly to the mainboard, to either a 3-pin or a 4-pin header. On a 3-pin fan connector, set the voltage to 12V in the BIOS. The manual says this is not necessary for PWM connections.

Alphacool's manual, tested with demineralized water, lists the same pump at 12V DC, 4W, 0.95 m head and 75 L/h.

Notes

• Use the cooler only with clear, transparent water cooling fluids. Alphacool warns that the particles and additives in Pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses, which can also void the manufacturer's warranty.
