Alphacool Eisblock XPX Pro Aurora Light - Acrylic (12981)

The Alphacool Eisblock XPX Pro Aurora Light - Acrylic is a CPU water block for AMD AM4, AM5, SP3, SP6, sTR5, sWRX8 and TR4 and for Intel LGA 1700, 1851, 2011-3, 2066 and 3647. LGA 4189, 4677 and 4710 are optional: each needs a bracket that is not in the box. Alphacool introduces the XPX Aurora Pro Light as the little sister of the XPX Pro CPU liquid cooling block.

Fit

Compatibility comes from the mounting parts: four mounting sets are in the box. On Intel they are brackets and bolts for LGA 2066 and 2011-3, Narrow and Square brackets and screws for LGA 3647, and a set for LGA 1700, which LGA 1851 uses as well. The AMD set of brackets and bolts is for TR4, sWRX8, SP3, AM4 and AM5.

LGA 4189 takes the Eisblock XPX Pro LGA 4189 Intel Mounting Bracket. With the LGA 4677 Mounting Bracket (article no.: 13764) the cooler is also compatible with the Intel socket LGA 4677. LGA 4710 needs its own bracket as well.

A clearer design

The block offers a clearer design because it does without the ramp system of the XPX Pro models. This eliminates the view of the water channels, giving the coolant a much clearer look through the top. Like the other XPX Pro models, it has been specially optimized for AMD Threadripper, Intel LGA 3647 and 2011/2066 processors.

How is the CPU cooler illuminated?

As with all new Eisblock CPU water coolers, Alphacool uses an integrated aRGB solution. There are 14 Digital RGB LEDs mounted under the black frame, around the entire cooler, and each of these 5V aRGB LEDs can be controlled separately. This means that all known effects are possible, depending on the selected controller. Controllers are available from Alphacool, the Aurora Eiscontrol (Art.: 15360, not included) among them. Many mainboards also offer a 3-pin 5V aRGB connector to control the LEDs of the Eisblock Aurora Pro Light.

Extremely powerful

The coldplate was specially optimized for the large processor cores. In total, 147 cooling fins run over an area of around 42 x 58.6 mm. For comparison, Alphacool says an XPX Aurora Eisblock (we stock the Plexi Black) requires only 81 cooling fins to completely cover the processor core of a normal CPU. Both coolers use the same type of fins, with a thickness of only 0.2 mm. To Alphacool this clearly shows how far it has gone in order to offer the best possible performance. The entire cooler base is made of nickel-plated copper and of course not aluminum. Alphacool's reason: the thermal conductivity of copper is known to be almost twice as high as that of aluminum.

Is installation difficult?

Alphacool calls the assembly extremely easy. You remove the protective foil from the cooler bottom, spread some of the enclosed thermal paste on the CPU, then attach the cooler. Depending on the base, the mounting screws are screwed on before or after the block is put on. No tools are necessary: Alphacool uses knurled screws, which allow a quick installation but are tightened by hand only.

What the loop needs

The block has two G1/4 threads, and both take the compression fittings for your tube size, which are not in the box. The lighting cable ends in a 3-Pin JST connector with an integrated Y-adapter (Y-Splitter), so further Alphacool components connect to it directly. A corresponding 3-pin JST to 3-pin 5V adapter is included in the delivery. The loop also needs a pump and a radiator.

Notes

• Alphacool asks that the block be used only with clear transparent water cooling fluids. It warns that the particles and additives in Pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses, and that this can void the manufacturer's warranty.
