Details
The Alphacool Eisbaer Pro Aurora 420 CPU is an AIO liquid cooler with a 420 mm radiator and three 140 mm fans. It fits AMD AM4, AM5, TR4, sTR5, SP3, SP6 and sWRX8 and Intel LGA 1700, 1851, 2011, 2011-3, 2066 and 3647. Alphacool also lists LGA 4189, 4677 and 4710, each marked optional (see Fit). It is a special development for processors with particularly large CPU dies. These include AMD Threadripper and Epyc and the Intel CPUs for the LGA 3647 and LGA 4189 socket. The same cooler comes with a 240 mm, 280 mm or 360 mm radiator.

Fit
The mounting sets in the box cover AM4, TR4 and SP3 on the AMD side and LGA 1700, 2011, 2011-3, 2066, 3647 (both versions, Narrow & Square) and 4189 on the Intel side. With the included AM4 mounting bracket the cooler can also be used on AMD Ryzen processors, which Alphacool calls child's play. Its manual assigns AM5 to the AM4 bracket and LGA 1851 to the LGA 1700 screws. Alphacool's list marks LGA 4189, 4677 and 4710 as optional. The LGA 4189 mounting set is in the box according to its data sheet. For LGA 4677 the bracket is additionally available as the XPX Pro/Eisbaer Pro LGA 4677 Mounting Bracket (Alphacool article no. 13764), and LGA 4710 also needs a bracket that is not in the box. Alphacool's manual and the mounting set in the box still name sTRX4, and the manual also names LGA 115x and 1200. Its current compatibility list no longer carries those three.
Before mounting, the manual has you remove the protective film from the cooler bottom and clean off the old thermal paste. Apply a pea-sized blob of the included thermal compound and spread it into an even, thin layer with a plastic strip. Tighten the mounting nuts and screws hand-tight only, without tools.
Large cooling surface
On the respective processors, the cold plate bottom covers the entire surface. Its cooling fins span an area of around 55 x 42 mm, which Alphacool says exceeds all known processor cores. That area ensures all hotspots of a CPU are directly covered and thus optimally cooled, in Alphacool's words. In total there are 58 cooling fins on the bottom of the cooler, each 0.4 mm thick. They have what Alphacool calls an optimal distance of 0.4 mm between them. The bottom is only 3 mm thick, which allows the heat to reach the water and be dissipated as quickly as possible.
Copper radiator
As per usual with Alphacool, the radiator is made of copper. Alphacool describes itself as the first manufacturer worldwide to use copper for all water bearing components, such as the antechambers, the cooling fins and the cooling channels to which the fins are soldered. The connection threads are brass for strength reasons, and the outer housing is stainless steel. In addition, the fins are only lightly painted, so on closer inspection the copper shimmers through a little. Alphacool's reason: a thick lacquer coating would result in a reduction of the cooling capacity.
The fin density is 15FPI, which Alphacool calls optimal. Therefore the radiator works perfectly even at low airflow, in its words. A too high fin density would require fans with higher speed to achieve the same cooling capacity, and a lower one would no longer benefit from fast rotating fans. So the golden mean was chosen, as Alphacool puts it.
Real water cooling
The all-in-one water cooler consists almost entirely of actual water cooling components. Its TPV hoses, extremely robust and durable according to Alphacool, are the ones used in the enterprise products for servers and workstations. The hose connections also come from Alphacool's Enterprise series and use the standard G1/4 thread. This makes the cooler fully compatible with all common water cooling products, DIY components included. Alphacool sums the cooler up as a true multi-talent, expandable, and the optimal solution for the most powerful processors on the market.
Fan and lighting
The fan used is the Aurora Rise with 140 mm, which the manual and our store call the Rise Aurora 140 mm fan. Possible fan assembly on the radiator is 3 x one-sided or 6 x both-sided, so a second set of three fits opposite the three in the box. Due to the special blade design the fan is extremely quiet, Alphacool says. It says the fan convinces with a max. static pressure of 2.20 mm H₂O and offers a max. air flow of 154.1 m³/h. PWM lets the fan be controlled over a wide speed range and adds a zero control, according to Alphacool: the fan can be regulated down to 0 rpm and then starts with approx. 350 rpm.
The entire cooler is equipped with addressable digital RGB LEDs, which Alphacool says gives a real eye-catcher in the case. The fans are also fully illuminated with 5V aRGB LEDs, and Alphacool says these addressable RGB LEDs provide brilliant illumination. Their frame has a unique pattern with many small cutouts that create what Alphacool calls a particularly noble effect. You do not see individual LEDs, and Alphacool finds the lighting much more interesting than a simple LED ring. Of course all Digital RGB LEDs can be controlled at will, and depending on the controller almost all effects are possible.
How to connect everything
The tubes and the quick-release fastener come pre-mounted, so the cooler needs no fittings of its own. With the quick-release fastener, expansion of the AIO with additional components is easy. Alphacool names the prefilled radiators and the Eiswolf GPU AIO water cooling system as the most important of these. The manual adds that the coupling opens and closes with its lock, and that the fillport on the cooler can be used to refill it.
A 4-pin PWM connector is how the fans are normally controlled. An included Y-adapter makes it easy to connect them to one connector on the mainboard, so all fans are controlled and regulated together. For the LED illumination each fan has a 3-pin JST connector including Y-adapter. This allows the fans to be connected directly together and controlled simultaneously via a controller. A corresponding adapter for a typical 3-pin 5V connector is included. Alternatively, use the included Digital RGB controller. The pump uses a 3-pin Molex connector, which can also be connected to the mainboard, on a 3-pin or a 4-pin header per the manual.

Notes
- When you refill or expand the loop, use only clear, transparent water cooling fluids. Alphacool warns that the particles and additives in pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses, which can void the manufacturer's warranty.
- Alphacool's manual says the pump specification was tested with demineralized water. It lists 2800 RPM, 12V DC, 4 W, 75 L/h and a 0.95 m delivery head where Alphacool's current page says 2600 rpm, 72 L/h and 1 m.
