Bare aluminum to anodize or paint

Watercool calls its interchangeable struts an easy way to customize your HEATKILLER Tube Series reservoir. They are made from solid aluminum, and the colored versions have what Watercool describes as a high end anodically oxidized finish. This set is the natural color with no anodizing, so it can be anodized or painted by you.

Choose the correct length

Please be careful to pick struts that match your tube. The name of your HEATKILLER Tube Series reservoir tells you its length: for example a Tube 100 requires 100mm long struts. A Tube 150 such as the HEATKILLER Tube 150 or the Tube 150 D5 takes these. The same length in black is the Struts 150mm - Black.

LED strip and changing the struts

Delivery includes four struts. One of them is designed to hold a LED strip, which is led through a small opening in it and fixed in place. Corresponding LED strips are available separately in reservoir lighting.

To change the struts, the reservoir comes apart. Open the lid with a quarter turn counterclockwise, take out the four M4x12 screws under it and lift off the top. Pull the glass tube out upward, keeping its o-rings, then remove the bottom, which four screws hold to the struts. On the D5 and DDC versions the pump comes off first. Reassemble in reverse order.

Notes

  • Drain the reservoir and take it out of the loop completely before you start.
  • When the tube goes back in, the o-rings must sit correctly and be undamaged. Check all seals before the first start-up; a squeezed or damaged o-ring means the reservoir must not be used.

In the box

  • 1x strut designed for HEATKILLER® Tube 150 LED illumination module
  • 3x strut for HEATKILLER® Tube 150

Watercool's assembly instructions show how to take the reservoir apart, change the struts and fit an LED strip.
