Built for the Threadripper package
Watercool calls it a premium, high-end water block specifically designed for AMD® Ryzen™ Threadripper™ CPUs, with maximum performance for Threadripper™ and EPYC™ processors. It is based on the HEATKILLER® IV CPU water block series, which Watercool calls multiple award-winning, highly decorated and critically acclaimed. It is designed to cool all four DIEs under the heatspreader.
The main feature of the block is a completely new cooling structure, adjusted to the specific Threadripper™ package and the massive size of its heatspreader. Instead of simply extending the cold plate, Watercool developed a completely new and unique water block for this chip.
Cooling area and flow
For example, its cooling structure is more than 80% larger than that of a regular HEATKILLER® IV PRO, yet the cooling fins are very small. Such fins usually reduce the flow rate, but the flow path keeps it extremely impressive, and flow and bleeding characteristics were also optimized. Watercool says these features let the block become a true performance monster.
Easy-Mount and manufacturing
Mounting the block is extremely simple, due to the revamped Easy-Mount-System that Watercool calls revolutionary. It screws directly into the original backplate via the preexisting socket situation, so you need neither to uninstall the mainboard nor to access its back side. After the first installation, it goes on and off completely tool-less.
The system comes with a defined stop of the installation bolts. Watercool says this guarantees perfect and even pressure over the whole IHS, and a faulty installation is almost impossible. Overtightening the screws is not possible either.
Watercool adjusted the aesthetics to the enormous dimensions of the Threadripper platform, and says only the highest quality raw materials make a true HEATKILLER® IV water block. The HEATKILLER® IV is a product "made in Germany", manufactured on state-of-the-art CNC machines at the Watercool headquarters.
RGB lighting
As on the acryl nickel/red version, a pre-installed RGB LED strip sits perfectly hidden under the black front cover. A black paracord sleeved cable connects the strip to the LED header of the motherboard, or to another RGB controller. It is compatible with ASRock's RGB LED, ASUS' AURA, GIGABYTE's AORUS FUSION and MSI's MYSTIC LIGHT.
What the loop needs
The two G1/4 ports take two fittings. Spare parts we carry for this block are its O-ring set (79406), mounting hardware (18051) and single mounting bolt (18052).

Notes
- Start all four screws before you tighten any, then tighten them crosswise (1, 2, 3, 4), one complete turn at a time, until you reach the stop.
- The inlet is in the center of the block. Watercool highly recommends demineralized or deionized water (distilled water).
- Plug the RGB connector in the correct polarity: the arrow on the connector goes on the 12V pin.
