The HEATKILLER IV series
Watercool's motto for the series is "made from enthusiasts for enthusiasts". It counts the water coolers of its HEATKILLER® CPU series among the most popular and top-selling CPU water coolers. Ever since the first HEATKILLER® CPU water cooler had its launch in 2001, the series has been constantly improved and optimized. So far, the HEATKILLER® IV presents the most extensive alterations. In short:
- Now even more powerful: a temperature decrease of up to 3 °C compared to its predecessor, thanks to a completely revised cooling structure
- A real high flow design, with higher flow performance from a bigger jet structure and receptacles
- Improved reliability: the jet is integrated directly into the cooler, and the cooling structure has no jet plate
- Mounting is child's play with the tool-free Easy-Mount-System
- Improved fittings compatibility: 16/10 and 19/13 fittings are possible with the 25 mm thread distance
The new cooling structure
The focus of innovation was the cooling structure. Finer micro fins greatly enlarge the contact surface between cooling liquid and cooler, and the flow characteristics became optimized as well. Watercool says these changes increased the cooling performance by up to 3 °C over the predecessor. Large-volume receptacles help too: the flow efficiency benefits, supported by them.
The block features a real high flow design, which Watercool credits with making it perfectly suitable also for lower performing pumps. By the way, the new structure does completely without a jet plate. Less dust can settle and fewer particles can accumulate within the cooling structure; because of this the cooler's reliability improves.
Easy-Mount and fittings
The HEATKILLER® IV comes up with an improved feature set as well, and it includes the comfortable Easy-Mount-System. After the initial installation, the cooler can be mounted or de-mounted tool-free at any time, with no need to dismount the mainboard. The mounting brackets now precisely define the contact pressure, thus mounting errors virtually do not appear. Tighten the studs and knurled nuts evenly and crosswise.
If you prefer big fittings, you will be glad to hear about the enlarged distance between the G1/4 threads, which is now 25 mm. That makes the block compatible with all common thread types up to the size of 19/13.
The HEATKILLER® IV is a product "made in Germany", manufactured on Watercool's state-of-the-art CNC machines at the Watercool headquarters in Waren.
What the loop needs
Two G1/4 ports mean two fittings. The same block with an acetal top is the HEATKILLER IV BASIC (AMD, AM4, AM5) ACETAL, and more blocks for these sockets are in our AMD CPU blocks category.
