Watercool HEATKILLER® IV eBC - Backplate for ASUS 2080Ti STRIX (16067)

A passive GPU backplate for the ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, made of massive black anodized aluminum. The Watercool HEATKILLER® IV eBC - Backplate for ASUS 2080Ti STRIX is a useful addition to the HEATKILLER® IV VGA water block for this card, and its mounting material is in the box.

What the backplate does

Mounted on the back side of the graphics card, the plate improves the cooling performance while granting the board mechanical stability, due to its construction out of massive aluminum. Even more, Watercool says, it also just looks good.

On the PCB's backside it cools the relevant components, including the GPU and voltage regulation (VRM), through precut thermal pads included in the scope of delivery. Isolating spacers on its back side ensure easy installation.

Mounting material and other water blocks

The enclosed mounting material is optimized for usage with HEATKILLER® IV water blocks. The plate can be used with blocks of other manufacturers, though you might need to modify the mounting material; material for those is not part of the delivery scope. A spare set is the Mounting Material for eBC Backplate for ASUS RTX 2080Ti STRIX, and the block's own is the Mounting Material for HEATKILLER IV ASUS RTX 2080Ti STRIX.

Watercool lists this backplate for one board layout:

On Watercool's GPU compatibility list that layout covers five ASUS GeForce RTX 2080 Ti boards: the STRIX, the STRIX ADVANCED, the STRIX OC, the STRIX OC COD: BO4 and the ROG MATRIX. HEATKILLER IV VGA parts are designed for one particular PCB layout, so check your card first.

Notes

• Remove the factory backplate, the original cooler and all thermal compound residue first.
• Both sides of the thermal pads carry a protective film; peel it off before installation.
• Check that all spacers are there; if one is missing, contact Watercool's support and do not mount the backplate.
• Disassembly of the original cooler might void your graphics card's warranty.
