A CPU backplate for Intel LGA 1700 and LGA 1851, CNC milled from 7 mm thick aluminum. The Watercool HEATKILLER LGA 1700 HEAVY Backplate replaces the board's original backplate and holds HEATKILLER IV blocks or other M4-mounted coolers.

A stiff plate under the socket
The solid HEAVY backplate is made for the current Intel socket generation, LGA 1700 from Alder Lake on and LGA 1851. It prevents socket bending and therefore generates a more even contact pressure, which Watercool ties to maximum cooling performance.
In Watercool's words, the included 0.8 mm washer mod optimizes the whole thing even further. The washers sit as spacers under the ILM and reduce its contact pressure on the CPU, so the heatspreader is deformed significantly less. Watercool recommends this modification.
Mounting and case clearance
The insulated aluminum backplate is easily mounted directly to the socket using its integrated UNC threads. The UNC screws with pan head from the scope of delivery fix the ILM in its original position. In addition, due to its thickness, your case should have a recess in the tray in the area of the socket.
The backplate can also be used with coolers from other manufacturers that secure their mounting system with M4 threads. Watercool says the M4 internal threads ensure an excellent compatibility.
What you need to mount it
For a HEATKILLER IV block such as the HEATKILLER IV PRO (Intel LGA 1X00) ACRYLIC CLEAN, the included set screws go into the block's studs, then through the mainboard into the backplate. Watercool's other plate for this socket is the HEATKILLER IV Backplate INTEL 1700.

Notes
- Watercool recommends inserting a processor (for LGA1700) to protect the socket pins before you loosen the four Torx 20 screws of the ILM.
- Pay attention to the rotational alignment of the backplate.
