The HEATKILLER IV series
Watercool counts its HEATKILLER® CPU series water coolers among the best-known and most powerful processor water coolers in the world, and among the best performing and most popular CPU blocks on the market. Since its presentation in 2001, the model series has been constantly expanded and, in Watercool's word, perfected. The HEATKILLER® IV represents the most comprehensive and latest development, the most recent iteration of the franchise. Against the previous model it brings:
- Up to 3 °C better temperatures and cooling performance compared to its predecessor
- More flow thanks to the larger nozzle and collecting channel, resulting in fewer blockages (less clogging)
- The tool-free Easy-Mount system (EasyMount)
- Extra large connections and fittings, thanks to 25 mm spacing of the ports
New cooling structure and optimized flow
The cooling structure, or cooling engine, underwent the biggest overhaul of all developments. Watercool has given the cooler significantly finer, thinner fins to ensure a larger area and thus better heat dissipation. It made sure to design the slats in such a way that the flow does not suffer.
Compared to its predecessor, the separate nozzle plate (jet plate) is dispensed with: its mechanics are integrated directly into the lid. Watercool writes that the novel design "allowed us to increase performance, improve flow and optimize reliability".
Easy-Mount, top workmanship, Made in Germany
To make assembly as easy as possible, Watercool has developed the Easy-Mount system. This means that, after initial assembly, the cooler can be assembled or dismantled at any time without tools. The mounting system is enhanced by a fixed stop on the mounting bracket. Incorrect assembly is therefore virtually impossible. Tighten the studs and knurled nuts evenly and crosswise: the contact pressure then follows the CPU maker's specifications.
But the design should also correspond to a product from Watercool. Watercool says its Heatkiller IV cooler is the result of the best processing technology, garnished with the finest materials. In order to present the opulent design in the best possible way, it took customers' wishes into account and considered connection types with up to 19 mm.
The production takes place with the greatest care in Watercool's ultra-modern CNC machine park in Waren-Müritz, Germany. Many work steps are carried out by hand, and each product is brought to perfection, as Watercool puts it, according to the four-eye principle: Made in Germany as you would imagine.
What the loop and an LGA1700 build need
The two G1/4 connection threads take two fittings. For mounting on the LGA1700 socket Watercool writes "we strongly recommend one of the available backplates", due to the socket problem (bending). They are the HEATKILLER IV Backplate INTEL 1700 (10014) or the HEATKILLER LGA1700 HEAVY Backplate (10016). On AM4 or AM5? Notes
