Quick Overview

The WireView Pro II Wired is a monitor for GPUs with a 12V-2x6 connector that connects through a permanently attached 40 cm power cable, so it can be placed freely in the case with the included mounting brackets. It measures current per pin, total power, voltage, and temperature, with visual and audible warnings when thresholds are exceeded.

Details

Thermal Grizzly's WireView Pro II Wired is a power monitor for graphics cards with a 12V-2x6 connector that sits on its own 40 cm power cable. This "Wired" variant is not plugged directly into the graphics card. Instead, thanks to the cable, it can be positioned freely inside the case. If you would rather have the monitor on the card as a 90-degree adapter, we also list the Normal and Reverse versions.

Per-pin current measurement

The monitor was developed specifically for demanding use with modern high-end graphics cards featuring a 12V-2x6 connector. It represents the advanced version of the WireView Pro, with additional functionality. It is a patented Thermal Grizzly development, protected by European patent EP4250057.

The device measures current not only as a total value, but also per individual conductor of the connector, which Thermal Grizzly names as the route to maximum monitoring precision. Measuring per pin allows a potential contact issue between the cable and the graphics card to be identified immediately. The purpose is to enable precise monitoring, so that load-distribution issues can be detected early. That way potential damage to the graphics card and the 12V-2x6 connector can be avoided.

Monitoring

All safety-relevant parameters are measured continuously, such as currents (A), voltages (V), temperatures (°C), and power consumption (W). Temperature measurement takes place at the input and output of the 12V-2x6 connector, and two external 10k NTC temperature sensors are included. For these values Thermal Grizzly defines thresholds that should not be exceeded during normal operation, as doing so would increase the risk of thermal damage to the connector.

If a threshold is exceeded, an audible alarm is triggered and a visual warning appears on the display. As an option, the system can be shut down automatically via the included splitter cable, which connects to the motherboard's power button. The preset thresholds can be changed in the configuration menu, although plug-and-play use is possible without configuration.

Cooling

Plug connections have unavoidable contact resistance, and due to it high-performance GPUs generate additional waste heat during operation. For controlled heat dissipation, a semi-passive fan has been integrated, controlled by temperature and power consumption. It operates silently at idle and is activated automatically as either of the two increases. The housing features ventilation openings and acts as an active heat sink, which Thermal Grizzly calls its active cooling function. Optimized airflow through the openings in the rear PCB supports air movement along all thermally relevant components.

The cooling performance can benefit from mounting the device on one of the intake case fans. The additional airflow supports the dissipation of waste heat, meaning the monitor usually operates in passive mode.

Ease of use

The power cable (GPU side) is plugged into the graphics card's 12V-2x6 connector, and the cable from the power supply unit goes into the monitor. This makes it compatible with all available graphics cards equipped with a 12V-2x6 connector, including NVIDIA Founders Edition cards. Several mounting brackets are included: a parallel one, a perpendicular one and one for a 120 fan. With them the monitor can be installed in numerous positions inside the case or on the graphics card itself. Thermal Grizzly counts these mounting options as increased compatibility, and they provide a wide range of installation options. The brackets cover placement, while three cable combs on the power cable make cable management easier and improve the overall appearance.

Install it only when the PC is switched off, and Thermal Grizzly recommends disconnecting the mains plug too. Check that every plug is fully inserted. Make sure the cables are not under tension, are not sharply bent and do not touch fans or moving components.

The reading is not influenced by cable length or by extension cables between the power supply and the card. Each additional connection is another point of failure, though, so the manufacturer advises keeping cables and connectors to the minimum.

Display views and software

The integrated TFT-IPS display has several views available, and they can be configured directly on the device:

  • Main View: per-pin monitoring, power consumption, connector detection, fan % and output temperature
  • Simple View: total power consumption, the pin with highest current, voltage and the hottest sensor
  • Current Monitor: per-pin current in amperes, with a visual limit indicator
  • Voltage Monitor: per-pin voltage and average value
  • Power Monitor: per-pin power and total power
  • Temperature Monitor: display of all 4 temperature sensors

Beyond the views there are extensive display configuration options and global settings for alarms, Cycle Mode, design, and fan control. Audible and visual warning messages show when thresholds are exceeded. The device can be used entirely as a hardware solution, with full functionality possible without software. It is additionally complemented by software (WireView2-SW-1.0.3). The USB-C port is for user-performed firmware updates, and a USB-C to USB 2.0 adapter cable handles the internal PC connection.

Automatic Data Logging

An integrated memory regularly logs relevant operating data, to make potential fault events traceable for fault-case analysis. The data recorded includes three things: the 12 V currents measured per pin, the total power consumption, and the temperature at the 12V-2x6 output (T-Out) near the connector. One data record is stored every 60 seconds. The memory then provides capacity for around 340 days at full load, or approximately 3-4 years of typical operation, before older entries are automatically overwritten. According to Thermal Grizzly, the collected data supports both fault analysis and the continued development of safer connector designs within the community.

Extended Warranty and Clarity for the End User

To ensure a high level of operational safety, Thermal Grizzly has equipped the monitor with an extended warranty with 2-year GPU connector coverage. It goes beyond the statutory warranty and the standard manufacturer's warranty. Suppose damage to the graphics card's 12VHPWR or 12V-2x6 connector occurs despite the integrated protective mechanisms. In that case repairs will be carried out by Thermal Grizzly, or an equivalent replacement will be provided if repair is not possible. This protection also applies after the original graphics card warranty has expired, and the extended warranty period is 2 years from the date of purchase. To make a claim, the device must have been used as intended, in accordance with the user manual. It must also have stayed within the operating parameters specified by the GPU manufacturer.

Thermal Grizzly's own words on this guaranteed protection package: "we provide maximum transparency and safety". In its description, customers invest in state-of-the-art monitoring technology and can rely on Thermal Grizzly to provide fast, straightforward support in the event of damage. It presents that as enabling sustained maximum performance without unnecessary risks.
