Who it is for

The paste was designed with a focus on outstanding thermal conductivity and exceptional long-term stability. Thermal Grizzly calls it an ideal choice for gamers and overclockers, and a top-tier product for demanding industrial cooling systems. The same line has Duronaut Pro.

  • Extreme long-term stability
  • Outstanding thermal conductivity
  • Electrically non-conductive
  • No hardening over time, and no curing required

Long-term stability and the pump-out effect

The name "Duronaut" derives from the English word "durability," emphasizing what Thermal Grizzly calls extraordinary longevity. This stability is achieved through a specially engineered silicone oil, combined with aluminum microparticles and zinc oxide nanoparticles of various shapes. These optimized particle shapes and sizes minimize the "pump-out effect" while ensuring excellent adhesion to surfaces, resulting in extremely low thermal transfer resistance. Pump-out is the displacement of paste by temperature fluctuations between a heat spreader and a cooler. The data sheet says it grows at higher temperatures.

Thin layers

The same particle shapes and sizes enable the paste to be applied in very thin layers, enhancing adhesion and minimizing thermal resistance. A thin application layer, coupled with the high conductivity of the aluminum micro and zinc oxide nanoparticle mix, ensures efficient heat transfer between the heat source (e.g., a CPU) and the cooler.

Applying it

Clean the CPU heat spreader and the cooler first, with a dry cloth or high-percentage isopropanol. Mount the applicator on the syringe and lay down a layer that is as thin as possible and still covers the entire heat spreader. For optimal application the TG Spatula Pro is included: its revised design allows for increased pressure during application, ensuring efficient spreading and a thinner layer. Spread very slowly and with a little pressure. A plastic card with a straight edge also works, never a metal object.
