Motherboard Standoffs

Standoffs are the small threaded pillars that hold your motherboard off the case tray or bench. They set the board at the right height so the solder joints on the underside never touch bare metal, which is what causes a dead short. Get one wrong and the board either flexes when you seat a cooler or refuses to post at all.

Two things decide which one you need: the thread the tray is tapped for, and how tall the standoff has to be. Most PC cases and test benches use a 6-32 UNC tray thread with an M3 female top for the board screw. Bench builders and open frames often want a taller pillar to clear a backplate.

What is in here now: a 36 piece standoff, screw and washer kit that covers a normal build, the Phobya 60 piece mainboard screw kit in black, and a Phobya M3 x 25mm standoff screw for builds that need real height. If you are chasing a specific length or head style, our screws section carries M3, M4 and 6-32 hardware separately.
