The Aquacomputer Backplate for Kryographics NEXT RX 6800 / RX 6900 - Active XCS (23703) is an active back plate for RX 6800 and RX 6900 graphics cards in reference design. It can only be mounted in addition to a kryographics NEXT RX 6800 / RX 6900 water block, which is not included.

What the plate does

This plate is manufactured from massive aluminum and anodized in a black color. It lends the card additional stability, especially in the voltage regulator area, giving that area and the RAM what Aquacomputer calls optimum heat dissipation.

A heatpipe keeps the plate connected to the water cooling system. It sits in the plate's own connection terminal, which replaces the terminal originally installed to the kryographics water block.

Installation

With the block installed, remove the seven card screws under the plate's mounting holes. Pads cut to the areas the manual marks go on the plate, which is fastened with three M2.5 x 8 mm and four M2.5 x 10 mm countersunk screws.

The block's black terminal comes off, and the new heatpipe terminal with its two gaskets goes on with the three original screws. The heatpipe sits in thermal compound in the plate's groove, under the stainless steel cover and four M3 x 5 mm screws.

The blue pad is optional: leave it off if inductor noise rises, which varies greatly between cards. Loosening single plate screws by about half a revolution often changes it too.

What the card needs

Please note that the graphics card and the kryographics water block are outside the scope of delivery; order them separately. Blocks for these cards are in our AMD Radeon RX 6800/6900XT section. The plate without a heatpipe is the passive version (23702).

Notes

• Plate and block must both have level contact to all relevant components; if not, do not power on the card or the PC, and mount it again.
• Do not overtighten the screws.
