Quick Overview

The airplex radical series combines some key features from the renowned airplex modularity series in a new design, radically reduced to function and performance. The result is a radiator of excellent quality for a competitive price. Just as the airplex modularity series, no welding is performed during production of the airplex radical series, preventing any welding residues inside the radiator. The coolant does not have contact to any other materials than seals, Delrin, copper and stainless steel.

Details

The Aquacomputer Airplex Radical 4/420, Copper Fins (33716) is a 420 mm water cooling radiator for three 140 mm fans, 73 mm thick, with copper fins on copper tubes and G1/4 connection threads. Twelve M3 threaded inserts and twelve M3 x 25 screws come with it, enough to mount fans on one side.

All copper inside, no welding

The airplex radical series combines some key features from Aquacomputer's renowned airplex modularity series in a new design, one radically reduced to function and performance. According to Aquacomputer, the result is a radiator of excellent quality for a competitive price. Just as with the modularity series, no welding is performed during production of these radiators, preventing any welding residues inside the radiator. The coolant does not have contact with any materials other than seals, Delrin, copper and stainless steel.

Threaded inserts that line up the fans

For an improved and easier installation process, the radiator comes with threaded inserts made from nickel plated brass. The inserts protrude into the mounting holes of the fans, and therefore the fans are "automatically" aligned correctly to the threads. Aquacomputer calls this extremely convenient, especially with large radiators like this one.

Additionally, using the inserts results in a deeper thread. The screw can therefore be positioned farther away from the tubes and fins, reducing the risk to damage the radiator by using too long screws. If the radiator is to be installed without fans, the inserts can also be turned upside-down. That leaves a nearly flat surface, resulting in a radiator that sits flush, so there is no gap between it and the PC case.

Both sides of the radiator are equipped with slide rails for the threaded inserts, and small notches in the slide rails lock the inserts when installed. Inserts for one side of the radiator are included in delivery.

Frame and size

The radiator frame is made from stainless steel; for optical purposes, the rear is chromated in dark gray. Aquacomputer points out that the total dimensions, 460 x 140 x 73 mm, are extremely compact in relation to the fin dimensions.

What the loop needs

Three 140 mm fans fit on one side with the hardware in the box. For fans on the second side, additional inserts are available separately as the threaded insets for airplex radical, 4 pieces (33559). Each port in use takes one G1/4 fitting from our fittings section.
