Quick Overview

The airplex radical series combines some key features from the renowned airplex modularity series in a new design, radically reduced to function and performance. The result is a radiator of excellent quality for a competitive price. Just as the airplex modularity series, no welding is performed during production of the airplex radical series, preventing any welding residues inside the radiator. The coolant does not have contact to any other materials than seals, Delrin, copper and stainless steel.

Details

The Aquacomputer Airplex Radical 2/480, Aluminum Fins (33711) is a 480 mm water cooling radiator (2/480 format), 40 mm thick, with aluminum fins on copper tubes and G1/4 connection threads. Sixteen M3 threaded inserts and sixteen M3 x 25 screws are in the box, enough for fans on one side.

Built like the modularity series, reduced to function

The airplex radical series combines some key features of Aquacomputer's renowned airplex modularity series in a new design, radically reduced to function and performance. In Aquacomputer's words, the result is a radiator of excellent quality for a competitive price. Just as with the modularity series, no welding is performed during production, preventing any welding residues inside the radiator. The coolant does not have contact to materials other than seals, Delrin, copper and stainless steel.

Threaded inserts for the fans

For an improved and easier installation process, this radiator comes with threaded inserts made from nickel plated brass. They protrude into the mounting holes of the fans, and therefore the fans are "automatically" aligned correctly to the threads. Aquacomputer calls that extremely convenient, especially with large radiators. Additionally, using the inserts results in a deeper thread. The screw can be positioned farther away from the tubes and fins, reducing the risk to damage the radiator by using too long screws.

If the radiator goes in without fans, the inserts can also be installed upside-down. The resulting surface is nearly flat, so there is no gap left between radiator and PC case. Both sides of the radiator are equipped with slide rails for the inserts, and small notches in the slide rails lock each insert when installed. Inserts for one side of the radiator are included in delivery.

Frame and size

The frame is made from stainless steel, and for optical purposes its rear is chromated in dark gray. Aquacomputer points out that the total dimensions of the radiator, 520 x 140 x 40 mm, are extremely compact in relation to the fin dimensions.

What the loop needs

The sixteen M3 x 25 screws in the box mount the fans on one side of the radiator. Additional inserts are available separately, for example to fit fans on the second side: the threaded insets for airplex radical, 4 pieces (33559). Each port in use takes one G1/4 fitting from our fittings section.
