Why the mounts are this sturdy
Alphacool calls these the best Alphacool reservoir mounts of all times. Many older mounts date from the beginning of the PC water cooling sector and were designed for the original tube reservoirs. During the last years, though, reservoirs became larger and were sized for more capacity, and metal was integrated for the end caps. This resulted in heavier reservoirs, making more sturdy mounts imperative, which is the reason for the construction of this one.
How it holds the reservoir
The design is based on hose clamps. Alphacool says they are able to safely seal in pressures of multiple bar with their closed-loop clamping design. With this universal mounting system, Alphacool says, every tube reservoir with an outer diameter of 50 or 60 mm can be mounted safely and securely. This pair has an inner diameter of 50 mm, so it is the size for a 50 mm reservoir. Alphacool's own page names the part the Reservoir Universal Mount, a universal bracket for expansion tanks.
Lighting
A possibility for LED installation was also implemented, of course. Each mount has two slightly pre-drilled holes in the back that are not opened. They can be drilled as needed, and then nothing stands in the way of spectacular lighting for your reservoir. The holes are 5 mm, the size of our 5mm LEDs.
What mounting needs
Alphacool's technical specifications give the mounting hole as M4. For mounting, additional screws are needed, and Alphacool's note reads: "We recommend ordering Item No. 46023 with the mounting clips."
Notes
- Notice from Alphacool: distilled water is recommended for correct operation of the water cooling.
