Where it comes from
This reservoir is based on the development of the Alphacool Repack Dual 5.25 Bay Station and also brings that unit's advantages to the table: easy mounting, compact dimensions and an appealing design. Alphacool says all of these features and many more are implemented in it, and that revision 2 is its second round.
Mounting and ports
It is designed for installation in a vacant 5.25" drive bay, where Alphacool says it allows compact installation and is a great addition to the front of your enclosure. Connection to the reservoir can be achieved via the implemented G1/4 threads, one inlet and one outlet, for what Alphacool calls maximum compatibility and flexibility. Installation is done just like mounting on an optical drive, making it quick and easy for any user in Alphacool's words.
Construction and filling
Construction-wise, Alphacool also calls this a great piece of hardware: extra-strong Plexi increases the stability of the reservoir and ensures extra rigidity. Filling can be done via the 3/8 inch thread in the front third. During operation that thread is sealed with a black nickel plated screw plug, which Alphacool's page describes as a Phillips screw. By simply pulling the reservoir forward from the drive bay, it can then be filled easily. Make it even easier for yourself by connecting a Fillport: ours are in the fillport fittings section.
Design and lighting
The front is the component which mainly remains visible after installation, and Alphacool calls it just beautiful to look at. Plexi, Acetal and a fill level indicator in combination with the typical Alphacool copper create what it calls a truly elegant design. Alphacool describes lighting as the next step toward a perfect system: two 5 mm LEDs can be inserted at the rear of the reservoir.
What the loop needs
Both G1/4 threads are in use, so the loop takes two fittings. Fittings and LEDs are not part of the extent of delivery. Check the technical specifications against your case before ordering. The LEDs we stock are in our 5mm LEDs section.

Notes
- Alphacool warns that, with the large selection of cases, problems can arise when inserting the reservoir. The dimensions were chosen so that the front seals completely, and Alphacool says it can only be installed with modifications to the interior.
- A carrier film covers the copper-colored logo. Peel it off to make the copper shine.
- Alphacool points out that other coolants often contain alcohols or other aggressive components as inhibitors that attack the acetal. It asks for its own Kelvin Catcher coolant and accepts no liability for damage from other coolants.
- Use only clear, transparent water cooling fluids. Alphacool warns that the particles and additives in pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses, which can void the manufacturer's warranty.
