Details
The Alphacool Repack Dual Bayres 5.25" - Rev.2 is a bay reservoir for the front of a case that needs two vacant 5.25" drive bays. It has four threaded openings, two G1/4 and two 3/8 inch, and measures 91 x 148 x 84 mm. The one-bay version is the Repack Single Bayres.

Where it comes from
This reservoir is based on the development of the Alphacool Repack Dual 5.25 Bay Station and brings that unit's advantages to the table: easy mounting, compact dimensions and an appealing design. Alphacool says all of these features and many more are implemented in it, and that revision 2 is its second round. But Alphacool would not be Alphacool, it adds, if this new product did not also have some extremely interesting new features which were not available until now.
Mounting and ports
The reservoir is designed for installation in the front of an enclosure, where two vacant 5.25" drive bays are needed. By default the connection of inlet and outlet is achieved via the G1/4 threaded openings. Additionally Alphacool offers the possibility to use the two 3/8 inch threads, which it gives as the way to reduced flow resistance. Of course all four openings can be used parallel as well, e.g. to allow the installation of a second cooling loop.
New technologies
So far everything sounds like a standard reservoir, but Alphacool says its developers have integrated some great features to improve the reservoir and its functionality, and these are the technologies implemented in it.
Anti Cyclone
In most reservoirs the coolant is sent around multiple corners, still leaving micro-bubbles in it. Unlike those, this one utilizes a new technology: both the in- and outlet openings are equipped with a special filter. Alphacool says the filter eliminates even the smallest bubbles in the coolant, and its page places it in front of the G1/4 inlets and outlets.
Filling
Filling has always been a hassle with standard slot-in reservoirs: unscrew, pull out, fill, push in and tighten the screws again. Enough of this, says Alphacool. The front of this reservoir has a filling straw, also called a filling rod, which can be taken out by unscrewing it. As the straw is hollow, it can now be used for filling of the reservoir. Alphacool's advice is one we recommend too: using a filling bottle or funnel from its portfolio.
Design and lighting
The front is the component which mainly remains visible after installation, and Alphacool calls it just beautiful to look at. Plexi, Acetal and a fill level indicator in combination with the typical Alphacool copper create what it calls a truly elegant design. Alphacool describes lighting as the next step toward a perfect system: up to six 5 mm LEDs can be inserted at the rear of the reservoir. The highlight is a 10 cm long cold light cathode (CCFL) that can be inserted from the top. Alphacool calls it the ultimate lighting source for your reservoir. In combination with the LEDs it is even possible to have different colors inside of the reservoir, Alphacool notes. Especially with a Heatmaster as a controller, Alphacool says, the possibilities are endless. Its closing line: more power, better looks, easy handling and high quality make this truly a first-class reservoir for your system.
What the loop needs
One loop uses an inlet and an outlet, so it takes two fittings, and the box has two 3/8 inch screw plugs for the 3/8 inch openings. Fittings, LEDs and the cathode are not part of the extent of delivery. Check the dimensions in the technical specifications against your case before ordering. The LEDs we stock are in our 5mm LEDs section.

Notes
- Alphacool warns that, with the large selection of cases, problems can arise when inserting the reservoir. The dimensions were chosen so that the front seals completely, and Alphacool says it can only be installed with modifications to the interior.
- A carrier film covers the copper-colored logo. Peel it off to make the copper shine.
- Alphacool has found manufacturing tolerances of up to 0.3 mm on cathodes, even from the same packaging, so a cathode may not fit the clamping opening right away. A few strokes of sandpaper over the edge correct that.
- Alphacool points out that other coolants often contain alcohols or other aggressive components as inhibitors that attack the acetal. It asks for its own Kelvin Catcher coolant and accepts no liability for damage from other coolants.
- Use only clear, transparent water cooling fluids. Alphacool warns that the particles and additives in pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses, which can void the manufacturer's warranty.
