The Alphacool NexXxoS XT45 Full Copper Quad 480/560 Radiator is a 480 mm / 560 mm radiator for four 120 mm or 140 mm fans on one side, with a cooling surface 45 mm thick. It measures 322 x 280 x 49 mm overall and has seven G1/4 threads and M3 fan threads.

That is the question Alphacool puts in front of the Quad 480 mm / 560 mm. Its figure is 280 x 280 x 45 mm of pure cooling surface for four 120/140mm fans single sided. The whole radiator comes to L x W x H: 32.2 x 28 x 4.9 cm.

Make No Compromises, Use Copper.

As usual, Alphacool also uses pure copper for this radiator: the end chambers, water channels and cooling fins are all made of it. Alphacool calls that a unique selling point worldwide. As a result, it says, its radiators have been among the most popular and best on the market for many years. In its words they are providing "the perfect foundation for every water cooling system".

Full Cooling Capacity

To maximize the performance of a radiator, Alphacool says it reaches deep into its bag of tricks, and copper is the starting point. It gives a thermal conductivity of 400 W/(mK) for copper compared to 236 W/(mK) for aluminum, and calls the winner clear. Alongside this, it points to the special fin density. Alphacool describes itself as one of the oldest companies in the field of water cooling and says it has carried out countless laboratory tests. The result is a fin spacing of 12 FPI, especially for such large radiators. With that spacing the air flow is almost unobstructed, which means the air can pass through even without high pressure. However, according to Alphacool the cooling capacity does not suffer from this, on the contrary. All cooling fins have small serrations to use the airflow optimally. These tiny flaps guide the airflow in the desired direction and increase the surface area. In the case of radiators they are barely 1 mm high, but Alphacool says they still provide controlled air turbulence to increase cooling capacity and minimize airflow noise.

Which fans?

There is space for four 120 mm or 140 mm fans single sided. If you want to operate the radiator passively, remove the mounting plate in order not to obstruct the natural airflow. Of course, the mounting plates for both types of fans can also be interchanged, which gives you more freedom when mounting the fans.

Connection options

For IN and OUT the radiator offers six G1/4 threads. One further G1/4 thread sits on the back of the radiator and serves as a fill port. Alternatively, a temperature sensor or a drain port can also be attached here.

What the loop needs

A loop uses two of the seven threads, so it takes two fittings, and the five stop plugs in the box close the rest. The radiator takes 120 mm fans or 140 mm fans, and the box holds one fan mounting bracket for each of the two sizes. For the M3 fan mounting thread it also holds 16 M3x30 screws and 16 M3 washers.

Notes

• Use the radiator only with clear, transparent water cooling fluids. Alphacool warns that the particles and additives in pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage water cooling products such as radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses. It adds that this can void the manufacturer's warranty as well.
