Quick Overview

Alphacool NexXxoS UT60 1080mm Nova! 350 x 350 x 60 mm of pure cooling surface for nine 120mm or four 180 mm fans.

Details

The Alphacool NexXxoS UT60 Full Copper 1080mm Nova Radiator is a 1080 mm radiator for nine 120 mm fans with 350 x 350 x 60 mm of cooling surface. Its end chambers, water channels and cooling fins are made of copper. The thinner radiator in the same fan size is the XT45 Full Copper 1080mm Nova.

Make No Compromises, Use Copper

Alphacool opens with the question "Would you like a little more?" and answers with 350 x 350 x 60 mm of what it calls pure cooling surface. As usual, it also uses pure copper for this radiator. The end chambers, the water channels and the cooling fins are all made of copper, which Alphacool calls a unique selling point worldwide. As a result, it says, its radiators have been among the most popular and best on the market for many years. Alphacool sees them as providing "the perfect foundation for every water cooling system".

Full Cooling Capacity

To maximize the performance of a radiator, Alphacool says it reaches deep into its bag of tricks, and copper is the starting point. It gives a thermal conductivity of 400 W/(mK) for copper compared to 236 W/(mK) for aluminum and calls the winner clear. Alongside the material comes what it calls the special fin density. Alphacool describes itself as one of the oldest companies in the field of water cooling and says it has carried out countless laboratory tests. For such large radiators especially, the result is a fin spacing of 12 FPI. This means the air flow is almost unobstructed, as the air can pass through even without high pressure. However, Alphacool says, the cooling capacity does not suffer from this, on the contrary. All cooling fins have small serrations to use the airflow optimally: these tiny flaps guide the airflow in the desired direction and increase the surface area. In the case of radiators they are barely 1 mm high, but Alphacool says they still provide controlled air turbulence to increase cooling capacity and minimize airflow noise. Alphacool adds three points: low overall height and variable use, suitable for industrial high performance fans, and additional cooling channels for more cooling capacity.

Which fans?

On the mounting frame the radiator has space for nine 120 mm fans. If you want to operate the radiator passively, you can remove the mounting plate in order not to obstruct the natural airflow. Of course, Alphacool adds, the mounting plates for both types of fans can also be interchanged, which gives you more freedom when mounting the fans. The thread size for fan mounting is M3.

Connection options

The radiator offers two G1/4 threads for IN and OUT. A further G1/4 thread sits on the back of the radiator and serves as a fill port. Alternatively, Alphacool notes, a temperature sensor or a drain port can also be attached here.

What the loop needs

Of the three threads a loop uses two, IN and OUT, so the radiator takes two G1/4 fittings. The third takes the sealing plug in the box when it is not in use as a fill port. The fan mounting plate comes pre-assembled, and the box has 36 M3x30 screws, four for each of the nine 120 mm fans, with an Allen wrench.

Size and weight

The outer dimensions of 378 x 360 x 65 mm are 37.8 x 36 x 6.5 cm. The radiator weighs 2270 g, and 3723 g packed.

Notes

  • Use only clear, transparent water cooling fluids. Alphacool warns that the particles and additives in pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage water cooling products such as radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses. It adds that this can void the manufacturer's warranty as well.

In the box

  • 1x Radiator
  • 1x sealing plug
  • 36x M3x30 screws
  • 1x Allen wrench
  • 1x fan mounting plate 360 x 360 mm (pre-assembled)
