Quick Overview

The Alphacool NexXxoS radiators are the highest value, most versatile radiators we carry here. They come in four different thicknesses, and in in just about every configuration imaginable! Perfect for nearly all fan speeds, the NexXxoS series radiators look sleek and will last multiple builds.

Details

The Alphacool NexXxoS ST30 Full Copper 280mm Radiator is a 280 mm radiator for two 140 mm fans, 30 mm thick. It measures 297 x 144 x 30 mm and has M3 fan threads. Alphacool's technical data lists two G1/4 connections for it: the three fitting positions and the de-aeration plug of the thicker NexXxoS radiators are not on the ST30.

Full copper

Alphacool says the new NexXxoS radiators are the first to truly deserve the "Full copper" attribute. Not only the fins and channels but the chambers also are made from copper, which covers all main parts. Alphacool claims this brings an improvement in performance where other radiators are left without a chance. By its account the material already gives an advantage over the competition, and the inner structure is up to par with it. Separated chambers give the coolant a clear direction, allowing high flow rates which improve the performance of the whole cooling loop. The chambers on the heat exchanger are flat, and thanks to the reduced overall length they increase mounting flexibility.

Ports and mounting

Versatile and easy mounting is one of the main points on which the research and development department at Alphacool focused. On the thicker radiators of the series the chamber offers three possibilities for fitting installation on both inlet and outlet (not on the NexXxoS ST30). Where they exist, less angled fittings are needed, improving flow rates and offering more mounting possibilities. Hence the radiator can even be installed in tight enclosures, where internal installation is otherwise not a possibility. A G1/4 screw plug (on all UT60 and NexXxoS Monsta) allows easy de-aeration of the radiator and hassle-free vertical installation of the heat exchanger. That threaded opening can even be used for filling, e.g. in combination with a Fillport.

Fans and screws

Versatility is what Alphacool calls the essence of the new NexXxoS series. The radiators are available in different versions to be used with 120mm, 140mm or 180mm fans, and in different thicknesses. Alphacool says the choice of 30mm, 45mm and 60mm offers "the perfect radiator for every purpose". Mounting and installation of fans and radiator grills is meant to be just as easy and versatile with these radiators. M3 threads are standard in the radiator sector, and M3 screws are available in all lengths at an affordable price. Even the dreaded insertion of a screw too far into the radiator does not result in expensive damage. Unlike other radiators, the series is equipped with an internal protective ledge which stops the screw before it damages the fins.

Fin spacing

Fin spacing is always an important factor in radiator design, and this radiator has 16 fins per inch. According to Alphacool, the fin design of the new series allows it to perform extremely well even with slow-spinning and medium-speed fans. It avoids unnecessary noise, a fact Alphacool calls pleasant, and it also means that the choice of fans that can be used is not restricted.

The NexXxoS range

Alphacool introduces the new NexXxoS radiators as "a name that stands for experience and quality" that has come to bring a fresh breeze to the radiator market. Its argument: every user of a water cooling system needs a radiator, and everyone has different requirements toward the heat exchanger. Of course, it adds, the customer always demands the best in its class. Alphacool says these radiators have come to compete with and to beat the best in their class, and to be the best radiator in all sizes. In its words there are no more endless choices without a clear class leader: the range is "the one tool for all your needs". Alphacool also says it has been the company to introduce new developments and improvements in the radiator and water cooling sector generally many times over the last years. Following this tradition, it presents the radiators as the result of experience and powerful performance meeting future-oriented design and well-thought through solutions.

What the loop needs

With two G1/4 connections, one inlet and one outlet, the radiator takes two fittings. There are no plugs in the box. It takes two 140 mm fans, and the box holds eight M3x30mm and eight M3x35mm screws for them.

The next thickness up in this fan size is the NexXxoS XT45 Full Copper 280mm Radiator.

Notes

  • Alphacool asks that the radiator be used only with clear, transparent water cooling fluids. It warns that the particles and additives in pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage water cooling products such as radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses. That can also void the manufacturer's warranty.

In the box

  • 8x M3 x 30mm mounting screws
  • 8x M3 x 35mm mounting screws

Alphacool's data sheet is a PDF. Its 3D model of the radiator is an STP file (.stp), and the 3D viewer shows it from every side.
