Full copper
Alphacool presents the new NexXxos radiators under a name that, in its words, stands for experience and quality and has come to bring a fresh breeze to the radiator market. Its reasoning: every user of a water cooling system needs a radiator, and everyone has different requirements towards the heat exchanger. Of course, it adds, the customer always demands the best in its class. Alphacool says these radiators have come to compete with and to beat the best in their class, and to be the best radiator in all sizes. It promises no more endless choices without a clear class leader and calls the NexXxos the one tool for all your cooling needs.
Alphacool says it has been the company to introduce new developments and improvements in the radiator and water cooling sector generally, many times over the last years. Following this tradition, it says the radiators are the first to truly deserve the "Full copper" attribute. All main parts are made from copper: not only the fins and channels, but also the chambers. By Alphacool's account this brings an improvement in performance where other radiators are left without a chance. It adds that the material already gives an advantage over the competition and that the inner structure is up to par with it. Separated chambers give the coolant a clear direction, allowing the high flow rates which Alphacool says improve the performance of the whole cooling loop. Thanks to flat chambers on the heat exchanger the overall length is reduced, which is meant to increase mounting flexibility.
Mounting
The research and development department at Alphacool focused on versatile and easy mounting as one of the main points. On both inlet and outlet the chamber offers three possibilities for fitting installation (not on the NexXos ST30). Less angled fittings are needed that way, improving flow rates and offering more mounting possibilities. Hence the radiator can even be installed in tight enclosures where internal installation is otherwise not a possibility. A G1/4 screw plug allows easy de-aeration of the radiator (on all UT60 and NexXxos Monsta) and hassle-free vertical installation of the heat exchanger. The threaded opening can even be used for filling, e.g. in combination with a Fillport.
What the loop needs
The radiator has six G1/4 connections. A loop uses two of them, so the radiator takes two fittings, and the rest take the screw plugs in the box. The radiator holds two 180 mm fans, and the box has eight M3x30mm and eight M3x35mm hexagon socket screws.
Alphacool calls versatility the essence of the new NexXxos series. The radiators are available in different versions to be used with 120mm, 140mm or 180mm fans and in different thicknesses. Alphacool says the choice of 30mm, 45mm and 60mm offers "the perfect radiator for every purpose". Even mounting and installation of fans and radiator grills is described as easy and versatile with these radiators. The M3 threads are standard in the radiator sector, and Alphacool notes that M3 screws are available in all lengths at an affordable price. Alphacool says even the dreaded insertion of a screw too far into the radiator does not result in expensive damage. Unlike other radiators, the NexXxos series is equipped with an internal protective ledge which stops the screw before it damages the fins.
Fins and fans
Alphacool calls fin spacing always an important factor in radiator design. By its account the new series has a fin design which allows it to perform extremely well even with slow-spinning and medium-speed fans. Alphacool finds this not only pleasant thanks to the fact that it avoids unnecessary noise. It also means, Alphacool adds, that the choice of fans that can be used with these radiators is not restricted. Alphacool sums the radiators up as the result of experience and powerful performance meeting future-oriented design and well-thought through solutions.
Info about the Monsta radiators
Alphacool says the Monsta radiators are the first of their size on the market, and that it was just as keen on finding out how they perform as the independent reviewers. It reports tests showing significantly increased flow rates against thinner radiators and a cooling performance that increased greatly with increased fan speed. That sounds normal, but Alphacool describes a different performance profile than standard radiators. At 500rpm the Monsta is slightly better than its 60mm brother, and the difference increases with fan speed: at 800rpm it already performs much better. At 1200rpm, Alphacool says, a Monsta radiator is performing almost as well as a 60mm thick radiator with one fan more, at the same fan speed. Alphacool calls this truly amazing and names no test setup for these figures.
