What a barb fitting does

A hose nozzle is a slightly different way of joining hose and connector. Less space is lost on the connector itself and more of the hose is shown, which Alphacool says makes barbs particularly popular with case modding systems. This one has a 90-degree bend and can be rotated, which helps with easy hose connection in the system. It measures 29 mm in height, 35 mm in width and 17 mm in depth.

High flow

The barb has an outer diameter of 13 mm and the fitting an inner diameter of 10 mm, larger than on normal connectors. Alphacool calls that a unique feat in the water cooling scene and says the inner diameter of these fittings truly deserves the "high flow" attribute.

Finish and colors

By the maker's own account, Alphacool's fittings go new ways in looks, quality of manufacturing, colors and choice. The first three colors, Chrome, Deep Black and Shiny Copper, are meant to offer something for every taste. The product matching series are designed to look elegant in every system, highlighting the individual design of the computer, and in combination with Alphacool tubing the limits are endless, it says.

With a new process during chromatising, the surface finish is completely connected with the brass body. Alphacool gives the reason: hence ensuring permanent intense colors and preventing peeling of the chrome layer. Some of the fittings carry the Alphacool name in blue lettering, which additionally underlines the individuality of these items.

What a run needs

The thread screws into any G1/4 port, and the barb takes hose from our 1/2" inner diameter soft tubing section. A tube run takes two fittings, one at each end.

Notes

• Use only clear, transparent water cooling fluids. Alphacool warns that the particles and additives in pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses.
