Details
This special aluminum cooler is a 200 x 120 x 25 mm heat sink with 27 fins for passive air cooling of electronic components, one cooler per pack. Alphacool says this type is often used for cooling machines, electrical as well as electronic devices and components. The smaller size is the 100x120x22mm passive cooler.

How it cools
The principle is simple: the larger the surface area of the cooler, the more waste heat can be removed. The heat sink has a high number of cooling fins, and that creates the large surface, which Alphacool says makes it possible to dissipate the generated waste heat in the best possible way. The effect is further enhanced by the choice of material, which Alphacool describes as high-quality aluminum with good thermal conductivity. The thickness of the radiator base was chosen so that heat is transported quickly away from the component via the cooler. This method of cooling reduces the risk of hardware damage due to overheating.
What the heat sink needs
The use of self-adhesive thermal pads is recommended here by Alphacool. These pads are placed between the component and the cooler, where they enable fast and effective heat transfer. A thermal conductive adhesive achieves the same effect.
Weight
Since the passive cooler is made of aluminum, it is extremely light at 700 g. That leaves it well suited for applications where weight plays a decisive role.

Notes
- Important: it is necessary to note that the heat sink is made of conductive material and therefore must not come into direct contact with voltage sources.
